He is attached to the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One. He is attached to the four fearlessnesses. He is attached to the four distinct analytical knowledges. He is attached to great love. He is attached to great compassion. He is attached to the eighteen unshared qualities of a buddha. He is attached to the fruit of stream-entry. He is attached to the fruit of once-returning. He is attached to the fruit of non-returning. He is attached to arhatship itself. He is attached to solitary awakening. He is attached to knowledge of the aspects of the path. He is attached to omniscience itself. He is attached to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete awakening. Therefore, he is called a child. He asked: Blessed One, is it the case that a bodhisattva mahāsattva who trains in this way does not train in the Perfection of Wisdom and does not attain omniscience? The Blessed One said: Śāradvatīputra, it is the case that a bodhisattva mahāsattva who trains in this way does not train in the Perfection of Wisdom. He does not attain omniscience. He asked: Blessed One, for what reason does a bodhisattva mahāsattva not train in the Perfection of Wisdom? Why does he not attain omniscience? The Blessed One said: Śāradvatīputra, here, a bodhisattva mahāsattva, due to unskillful means, examines and is attached to the Perfection of Wisdom. He examines and is attached to the Perfection of Meditation. He examines and is attached to the Perfection of Diligence. He examines and is attached to the Perfection of Patience. He examines and is attached to the Perfection of Morality. He examines and is attached to the Perfection of Generosity. He examines and is attached to inner emptiness.
