Such conduct is called striving in the perfection of wisdom. Son of Śāradvatī, furthermore, when a bodhisattva-mahāsattva engages in the perfection of wisdom, he does not think: 'Having abided in the legs of magical power, I will attend, honor, respect, and make offerings to all the buddhas, the blessed ones, who reside in the world-realms of the eastern direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges.' He does not think this. 'Having abided in the legs of magical power, I will attend, honor, respect, and make offerings to all the buddhas, the blessed ones, who reside in the world-realms of the southern direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges.' He does not think this. 'Having abided in the legs of magical power, I will attend, honor, respect, and make offerings to all the buddhas, the blessed ones, who reside in the world-realms of the western direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges.' Abiding in the feet of magical power, in the world realms in the lower direction as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, towards all those Sugatas, the Blessed Ones, however many there are, I do not think of attending to them, honoring them, serving them, making offerings to them. Abiding in the feet of magical power, in the world realms in the upper direction as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, towards all those Sugatas, the Blessed Ones, however many there are, I do not think of attending to them, honoring them, serving them, making offerings to them. Therefore, all that is taught by those Sugatas, the Blessed Ones, however many there are, should be listened to with the divine ear. The minds of the beings in those world realms should be known by mind. I should remember their former abodes. I should see with the divine eye those beings passing away and being born, and those who will be born. I do not think of completely liberating countless immeasurable beings from suffering. Sharadvatiputra, such conduct of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is called diligence in the Perfection of Wisdom. Sharadvatiputra, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, even the maras who seek opportunities and those who cause decline do not find an opportunity. All worldly and transworldly activities, however many there are, will be accomplished effortlessly and harmoniously without complete examination. All worldly defilements, however many there are, will be completely eliminated.

To the east, as many Buddhas, Blessed Ones, as there are grains of sand in the river Ganges, in their respective world realms, will also protect that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, so that he does not fall into the level of a Hearer or a Solitary Realizer. The Four Great Kings, the gods of the Thirty-three, the Yamas, the Tushitas, the Nirmāṇaratis, the Paranirmita-vaśavartins, the gods of the Brahma realm, the Brahmapāriṣadyas, the Mahābrahmās, the Ābhāsvaras, the Parīttābhas, the Apramāṇābhas, the Śubhakṛtsnas, the Puṇyakṛtsnas, the Parīttaśubhas, the Apramāṇaśubhas, the Ābhāsuras, the Bṛhatphalas, the Parīttabṛhats, the Apramāṇabṛhats, the Vṛddhiphalas, the Avṛhas, the Atapas, the Sudṛśas, the Sudarśanas, and the Akanishtha gods will also protect that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, so that no one will cause him any harm. Whatever physical defects there may be, they will all completely disappear in this very life. Why is that? It is because that Bodhisattva Mahasattva pervades all sentient beings with loving-kindness. To the south, as many Buddhas, Blessed Ones, as there are grains of sand in the river Ganges, in their respective world realms, will also protect that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, so that he does not fall into the level of a Hearer or a Solitary Realizer. The Four Great Kings, the gods of the Thirty-three, the Yamas, the Tushitas, the Nirmāṇaratis, the Paranirmita-vaśavartins, the gods of the Brahma realm, the Brahmapāriṣadyas, the Mahābrahmās, the Ābhāsvaras, the Parīttābhas, the Apramāṇābhas, the Śubhakṛtsnas, the Puṇyakṛtsnas, the Parīttaśubhas, the Apramāṇaśubhas, the Ābhāsuras, the Bṛhatphalas, the Parīttabṛhats, the Apramāṇabṛhats, the Vṛddhiphalas, the Avṛhas, the Atapas, the Sudṛśas, the Sudarśanas, and the Akanishtha gods will also protect that Bodhisattva Mahasattva, so that no one will cause harm.
