After expelling him outside the boundary, the monks gather with him, live together, and sleep together in one dwelling. Other monks say, "Venerable ones, this monk has been abandoned because he was not properly regarded by the Sangha." When asked if the monks will follow that monk, They will say this: "It is true, please expel this monk, make his hair stand on end, show him reverence with folded palms, and then expel him." Saying 'outside the boundary' is a fault. Similarly, the monks abandon him because 'this monk has not been seen,' and do not repeat it, and do not abandon the observation of sin, and then abandon him. Please expel the monks, make his hair stand on end, show him reverence with folded palms, and then expel him inside the boundary. The monks gather with him, live together, and sleep together in one dwelling. Other monks say, "Venerable ones, this monk has been abandoned because he was not properly regarded by the Sangha." When asked if the monks will follow that monk, they will say this: "It is true, please expel this monk, make his hair stand on end, he shows reverence with folded palms, and then expel him." Saying 'inside the boundary' is without fault. Thus, knowing the action becomes a fault, and knowing that action itself does not become a fault. Is there a case of erring due to one's own vow and erring due to another's vow? It is said: There is erring due to one's own vow and erring due to another's vow. How does one err due to one's own vow? For example, if a monk commits any of the five aggregates of offenses and knows it himself, that is a fault. What is erring due to another's vow? For example, if a monk commits any of the five aggregates of offenses, but treats that offense lawfully according to the vow of a faithful devotee. Thus, it is erring due to one's own vow and erring due to another's vow. There is erring due to mindfulness and non-mindfulness.

Are there any faults that arise from transgression? The answer is yes. How does transgression arise from memory? For example, if a monk remembers committing any of the five aggregates of offenses, that is a fault of memory. How does transgression arise from not remembering? For example, if a monk does not remember committing any of the five aggregates of offenses, even if he slightly forgets, that is still a fault. Therefore, remembering is a fault, and not remembering is also a fault. Are there faults that arise from being manifest and faults that arise from not being manifest? The answer is yes. How does transgression arise from being manifest? For example, if a monk commits any of the five aggregates of offenses, that is a manifest fault. How does transgression arise from not being manifest? For example, even if a monk has not committed any of the five aggregates of offenses, it is certain that he will commit them. In this way, not being manifest is also a fault, and being manifest is also a fault. Are there things that do not exist because of (something), and that exist separately because of that thing itself? The answer is yes. For example, when monks say, "We have not seen a nun" and abandon her, no longer create (bad karma), and no longer look back at sin, thus abandoning her, that is something that does not exist because of (something), and that exists separately because of that thing itself. What action, when done, does not exist (because of that action), and when that same action is done, exists separately? The answer is: What action, when done, does not exist (because of that action), and when that same action is done, exists separately. How does doing a certain action cause it not to exist, and doing that same action cause it to exist separately? For example, when monks say, "We have not seen that monk" and abandon him, no longer create (bad karma), and no longer look back at sin, thus abandoning him, in this way, doing a certain action causes it not to exist, and even if that same action is done, it exists separately. If one knows what action will not exist, and knows that the same action itself will exist separately? The answer is: Knowing what action does not exist, even if one knows that the same action itself will exist separately. How does one know that a certain action does not exist?
