The sick attendant said, "Please offer a little something to the venerable Sangha." He said, "I have nothing at all, but I can offer three Dharma robes." That person said nothing and remained silent. He offered the three Dharma robes, and they sold them and divided the proceeds. That bhikshu later recovered and stood up, but became impoverished because he had no three Dharma robes. The bhikshus reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, "Bhikshus, do not beg three Dharma robes from a bhikshu for the sake of the Sangha. If you beg, you will incur a transgression involving expulsion. The Sangha should also not accept them. If they are accepted, do not distribute them. If they are distributed, you will incur a transgression involving expulsion." These are two verses from the second chapter of the Ekavyavahārika. In short, both are permitted, and different forms are allowed. Also, one-third, śrāmaṇera, śikṣamāṇā, and śrāmaṇerikā. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's Park. Sixty bhikshus were traveling and went to a village at the foot of a mountain. There lived a faithful householder who invited them to his house for a meal and thought, "I will give each bhikshu a piece of cloth." As they began to eat, sixty bhikshunis also traveled to that village at the foot of the mountain and began to beg for alms. Another person said, "The bhikshus are receiving offerings at this householder's house, go there." They went there and also ate. Then, that householder placed sixty pieces of cloth before the elders. The bhikshus did not know how to distribute them. The bhikshus reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, "It should be obtained by the two Sanghas, distribute the cloths to the two Sanghas." The origin of the story is that it happened in Śrāvastī. In Śrāvastī, another householder built a temple, he held a consecration ceremony, offered food to the two Sanghas, and also offered many possessions. The bhikshus distributed them, and the bhikshus

Alas, we must have three Dharma robes. If the upper and lower skirts of the novices are not enough, how can they share with us? They complained. As a result, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: Bhikshus and Bhikshunis should share equally. Shramaneras, Shramanerikas, and Shikshamanas should be given one-third. The Blessed One instructed that one-third should be given to the Shramaneras. If a Shramanera is already twenty years old and also wants to receive full ordination, the monks would say to him: Venerable one, you are already twenty years old, why don't you receive full ordination? He would say: The Blessed One has prescribed such gains for us that even the upper and lower skirts are not enough, let alone the three Dharma robes? How can we receive full ordination? They said so. As a result, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: For the Shramanera who wants to receive full ordination, give two-thirds to the Shikshamanas. The one-third share of the other Shramaneras and Shramanerikas is used up. The third verse of the Sutra of the Two Single Doors. In short, there are sixty in Kosala, and one hundred and fifty-three, as well as Sound Possessor, Wealth Protector, temples and stupas are also like that, umbrellas and paintings are also added, and invited to a feast. When the Buddha Bhagavan was traveling in Kosala, he came to another mountain village, and a householder lived in that mountain village, who invited the Blessed One and the Sangha of Hearers to his house for offerings. When sixty Bhikshunis were traveling, they also came to that mountain village, and they also had a meal there. After the Blessed One had a meal with one hundred and fifty-three attendants, that householder placed one hundred and fifty-three pieces of cloth in front of the Sangha. The monks did not know how to distribute them, and the Bhikshunis said: What else can be done besides this? There were also two previous occasions when the Sangha had a meal together, and we received half.
