It was killed. Then who killed it? It was killed by those who take what is not given. We have blessed the head, feet, and tail to the dust. They asked, 'Venerables, are you carrying mule meat?' They replied, 'Yes.' So they were ridiculed. The monks reported this to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said, 'If monks eat the flesh of a mule, a living being, it will become a target of offense. Therefore, monks should not eat the flesh of cloven-hoofed animals. If they eat it, they will be considered to have transgressed.' The story takes place in Shravasti. The Six Groups of monks ate wild boar meat, and Brahmins and householders saw it and said, 'What is this, venerable ones? It is wild boar meat.' 'Are the venerable ones also carrying wild boar meat?' They replied, 'Yes.' So they were ridiculed, and the monks reported this to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said, 'Monks, the ridicule of Brahmins and householders is justified. Therefore, monks should not eat wild boar meat. If monks eat wild boar meat, they will be considered to have transgressed.' The story takes place in Shravasti. In Jeta Grove, a monkey fell from one tree to another and died. The Six Groups of monks put it in a pot and cooked it. Another woman lost a small son and came to Jeta Grove looking for him. She saw the Six Groups of monks cooking a monkey in a pot. Seeing this, she thought, 'Have they cooked my son here?' So she began to speculate. After a while, the pot bubbled and the monkey's hand came out. She beat her chest and said, 'Oh, my son! Oh, my son!' The monkey's foot also came out, and she said again, 'Oh, my son! Oh, my son!' The Six Groups of monks asked, 'Why are you doing that?' She said, 'The hand and foot that came out are my son!' After a while, the tail also came out. The Six Groups of monks asked, 'Does your son have a tail?' She was ashamed and said, 'Venerable ones, is this a monkey?' They said, 'It is a monkey.' 'Venerable ones, are you also carrying monkey meat?' She replied, 'Yes.'

, and those monks were blamed for it, so they reported the matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Monks, monkey meat is similar to human meat. Therefore, monks, do not eat monkey meat. If monks eat monkey meat, they will be in violation of the precepts. This is the fifth verse of the first chapter of "The Solitary Gate." In summary: Do not give with bowls, cloth, leather, or lotus leaf bowls. Except for iron tubes, containers decorated with jewels are also acceptable. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was residing in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. At that time, there was a monk in Shravasti who was ill. He was tormented by illness, so he went to a doctor and asked for treatment. He said, "Doctor, I am very sick, please tell me the method of treatment." The doctor said, "Treat with a laxative." The monk said, "The Blessed One does not allow this." The doctor said, "Venerable, your teacher is compassionate and will allow it." The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said, "If the doctor advises this and it will cure the disease, then use a laxative, do not hesitate. The Blessed One said: Take a laxative!" They used a bowl to hold the medicine, but the medicine overflowed and it was not suitable. The Blessed One said, "Do not use a bowl to hold the medicine." They used the edge of the cloth to hold the medicine, but this was also considered inappropriate. The Blessed One said, "Do not use the edge of the cloth to hold the medicine."
