Just like brown sugar water and drinks, when kept for seven days, and also dedicated for others, afterwards, do not neglect to bestow benefits. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was residing in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. The Bhagavan, together with the assembly of Shravakas, was traveling and went to another village called Ribraja. Knowing that it was time to tame another householder residing in that village of Ribraja, the Bhagavan went to that village of Ribraja. When that householder saw the Bhagavan, he developed faith and came to the Bhagavan's presence. Knowing his thoughts, habits, inclinations, and nature, the Bhagavan taught him the Dharma in such a way that he would realize the Four Noble Truths. After hearing it, that householder, with the Vajra of Wisdom, shattered the twenty high peaks of the mountain of viewing the aggregates as real, and manifested the fruit of Stream-enterer. As much as those monks were afflicted by the fatigue of the road, they returned and laid down and rested, having placed their robes in temples, roadsides, gardens, and under trees. That householder, having gained great faith, went successively to the roadsides, temples, and under trees in order to pay homage to the monks. When he saw the monks lying down and resting in their places, he said: Venerable ones, why are you sleeping and resting when you should be diligently practicing the teachings? They replied: Householder, we are afflicted by the fatigue of the road and are weak, so we are unable to practice virtuous deeds. He said: If that is the case, venerable ones, if the Bhagavan allows the consumption of brown sugar in the afternoon, I will go and request and offer it. Some of them said: That householder will eat it. Some said: Venerable ones, in the past, the householder Beratras attained Arhatship by relying on the consumption of brown sugar. If the Bhagavan also allows it in that way, we will also be afflicted by the fatigue of the road, and the non-believers in the world will be displeased, saying, 'They live in the village and yet they eat,' and then they will leave. Others again said: Venerable ones, that

Having done so, report to the Blessed One." The monks reported this to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said, "Jaggery should be eaten in its entirety; do not have doubts about it." The Blessed One said, "Eat jaggery completely." Those monks ate it. They were thirsty due to the fatigue of the road, and the Blessed One said, "Make jaggery water and drink it." Reverend Upali asked the Buddha, the Blessed One, "Venerable, is it permissible to consecrate jaggery water and consume it after seven days?" Upali: "It is not permissible." "Venerable, for how long can it be kept and drunk?" Upali: "As long as it has not deteriorated, has not turned sour, and has not lost its original nature." The origin of the story is when he was in Shravasti. The Blessed One said: Uposatha, what is obtained lawfully, consecration of robes, dedication of robes, inviting a single person, these five things can be accomplished by one's own intention. Those monks were invited to a certain place, and then invited to another place, or even to a better place. In one case, it is oneself who goes; in the other, one abandons one's own thoughts and goes to help others. A time of famine came, and it became very difficult for the monks to beg for alms. Brahmins and householders of faith invited the elder monks for a meal, promised one householder, but went elsewhere. The Blessed One said, "Therefore, when a famine occurs and it is difficult to obtain food due to suffering, all those who are invited should accept it, eat it themselves, and also share it with the monks." The monks went to other Brahmins and householders, and they said, "Venerable, we did not invite you; we invited this elder named so-and-so." The monks then reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said, "Go yourself to receive the offering, eat two or three mouthfuls, and then say this: 'Householder, these monks are in need of food; please also give alms to them.'"

Say, be happy. Likewise, give to all the invited guests, whether two, three, or however many. After everyone has done this, the last invited guest should eat until full, do not have any doubts about this. This is the eighth verse of the first chapter of the "Solitary Door" scripture. In short, butter or sesame oil, or other stored items, as well as eye medicine boxes, spacious places, and suitable locations. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was residing in Jeta's Grove in Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. A certain monk was afflicted with wind disease, and he went to a doctor and said: "Good sir, I am afflicted with this kind of disease, please prescribe medicine for me." The doctor said: "Venerable, take this much butter and you will recover." He told this to the other monks, and the monks reported it to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan instructed: "If the doctor instructs to drink butter, then it should be drunk." After that monk drank it, he felt better during the day, but at night the wind disease arose again. The monks asked the doctor, and the doctor said to drink it at night as well. The monks reported it to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan instructed to drink it at night as well. He accumulated a lot and blessed it for seven days, and then he was healed. The story took place in Shravasti. Another monk fell ill, and he also went to the doctor, saying he wanted to be cured, and then said: "Good sir, I am afflicted with this kind of disease, please give me a method of treatment." The doctor instructed: "Venerable, drink this much sesame oil and you will recover." He told this to the other monks, and the monks also reported it to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan instructed: "If the doctor instructs to drink sesame oil, then sesame oil should be drunk." After that monk drank it, he recovered during the day, but at night the wind disease arose again. The monks asked the doctor, and the doctor instructed to drink it at night as well. The monks reported it to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan instructed: "At night also
