Two. Cloth also has three types. Wanting to buy, and gathering together. The Buddha Bhagavan was staying in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. A certain monk borrowed a karshapana from a householder, and after some time, the monk passed away. The householder heard the news of the monk's passing. After hearing the news of the monk's passing, the householder went to the monastery and knowingly asked the monks: Where is that monk called "Arya"? They said: Good-faced one has passed away. That Arya borrowed a karshapana from me. Good-faced one has been sent to the cemetery, go there and look for it. Arya, if you divide his begging bowl and Dharma robes, how can I go to the cemetery and look for it? Please give it to me, they said. After this happened, the monks reported to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan instructed: Monks, that householder speaks correctly, the monks should repay what was borrowed from him. They did not know from where to repay, the Bhagavan instructed: Repay from his begging bowl and Dharma robes. The monks returned the begging bowl and Dharma robes, but the householder did not want the begging bowl and Dharma robes. The Bhagavan instructed: Sell them and repay him. The monks returned all of them. The Bhagavan instructed: Repay as much as was borrowed, and divide the remainder. In Shravasti, another monk borrowed a karshapana from a householder, and after some time, the monks, as before, sold the begging bowl and Dharma robes and repaid him. The householder said: Arya, I only want this much, do not give me more than this, give me something else. After this happened, the monks reported to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan instructed: He only has the begging bowl and Dharma robes, there is nothing more, close the door. That's it.

If he is not capable, make him understand. If he cannot be made to understand even by admonition, do not give him the work of the Sangha or other individuals. Let the wise and impartial men admonish him and send him away. The story takes place in Shravasti. A monk took a piece of cloth from a cloth seller without paying for it, and then the monk passed away. When the owner of the cloth heard that the monk had passed away, he came to the monastery and knowingly asked the monks, "Where is the monk named so-and-so?" They replied, "That virtuous monk has passed away. That noble one took a piece of cloth from me, promising to pay for it, and then took it away. Now that virtuous monk has been taken to the cemetery, go there and look for it. If you divide that noble one's robes and bowl, why should I go to the cemetery to search? You pay me." The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, "Monks, if the cloth seller speaks the truth, then pay him." The monks gave him the cloth itself. He said, "Venerables, he promised to pay me this much money." The Blessed One instructed, "Then sell things and pay him." The monks began to sell things, but they did not get the previous price. The Blessed One instructed, "Sell the remaining robes and bowl and pay him." The story takes place in Shravasti. A monk gave thread and wages to a weaver to weave cloth. Later, the monk passed away. The monks called the weaver and said, "Virtuous one, the monk named so-and-so gave you thread and wages to weave cloth, return those things." The weaver said, "Venerables, I did weave cloth for him, but I did not take his thread and wages." The monks did not know what to do, so they reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed the monks, "If the weaver speaks the truth, then unravel the cloth." The monks unraveled the cloth.

He said, "Venerable ones, I have given the cloth to him." The monks did not know what to do. The monks reported this to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said to the monks, "The cloth seller speaks the truth, the cloth should be repaid." The monks questioned him closely, and he said, "Venerable ones, I have given him a large piece of cloth." The Blessed One instructed, "Monk, it should be repaid as he gave in the past." The Vinaya Scripture, Volume Thirty-seven. The story takes place in Shravasti. The group of six became famous among the laity. Whoever bought or sold anything would go to them and ask, "Venerable one, how much is this worth?" Then, in Shravasti, there were two householders, one buying cloth and one selling cloth. As they were discussing the price, the Venerable Ananda came in that direction. The two of them said, "The price set by the Venerable Ananda is reliable." One of them said, "It should be determined in that way as well." Then, the two of them said to the Venerable Ananda, "Venerable one, how much is this cloth worth?" He secretly asked one of them, "Good sir, are you buying or selling?" He said, "I am buying." Ananda said, "This is worth twenty karshapanas." Then, he secretly asked the other one, "Good sir, are you buying or selling?" He said, "Venerable one, I am selling." Ananda said, "This is worth forty karshapanas."
