A monk was tormented by intense lust, and he had a friendly monk. He went to him and said to him: Venerable, I am completely covered and tormented by lust. The monk said: Go and engage in impure conduct. That monk then went and engaged in impure conduct. Later, he doubted whether he had committed a Pārājika offense because he had been instigated. The Blessed One declared: There is no Pārājika offense, but a gross offense will occur. The Venerable Upāli asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable, how should a gross offense be confessed? Upāli, there are four kinds of gross offenses: a heavy offense arising from a Pārājika offense, a light offense arising from a Pārājika offense, a heavy offense arising from a Saṃghādisesa offense, and a light offense arising from a Saṃghādisesa offense. Upāli, a heavy gross offense arising from a Pārājika offense should be confessed within the boundary, in front of all the Saṃgha. A light offense arising from a Pārājika offense should be confessed outside the boundary, in front of four monks. A heavy gross offense arising from a Saṃghādisesa offense should be confessed outside the boundary, in front of four monks. A light offense arising from a Saṃghādisesa offense should be confessed within the boundary, in front of one monk. In short, oral sex and being fit for work, mother and cemetery dweller, Lightly Noble, Noble Born, Extremely Noble, Reed, and Most Noble. A monk performs oral sex without covering, and a monk tormented by lust stands before him, puts his penis in his mouth, he bends down and ejaculates, and then this monk doubts whether he has committed a Pārājika offense. The Blessed One declared: No Pārājika offense has been committed, but from now on, a monk should not perform oral sex without covering. If he performs oral sex, he commits a Dukkaṭa offense. A monk erects his penis, being fit for work, and he thinks: Even if I put it in the vagina, there will be no offense. After thinking this, he puts his penis in a woman's vagina, and then doubts whether he has committed a Pārājika offense.

When doubt arose as to whether a transgression had been committed, the Blessed One taught: As soon as it is inserted, a transgression is committed. A certain monk, completely overcome and tormented by desire, went to his mother and said: Mother, I am tormented by desire that completely pervades me. The mother said: Son, you were born from this very place, so put it back in here. Having said this, he thought to insert it, and inserted it into the wound, and that became a shameful thing. When that monk doubted whether he had committed a transgression, the Blessed One taught: With regard to a shameful thing, there is no desire, therefore there is no fault of transgression, but it becomes a grave offense. A certain monk went to the charnel ground to examine a corpse, and there he saw the corpse of a woman adorned with ornaments and abandoned. Having seen it, he developed desire, and thinking to insert it, he inserted it into the wound, and inside it was full of worms. When that monk doubted whether he had committed a transgression, the Blessed One taught: Monks, there are two kinds of deterioration, namely internal deterioration and external deterioration. There is no fault of transgression, but it becomes a grave offense. A female lay follower named Light Good Mother died at night and was abandoned in the charnel ground adorned with ornaments. A certain monk went to the charnel ground to examine a corpse, and having seen her, he developed desire for her, and thinking to insert it, he inserted it into the wound, and she also stood up, and the monk became frightened. When doubt arose as to whether he had committed a transgression, the Blessed One taught: Monk, with regard to a frightening thing, there is no desire, therefore there is no fault of transgression, but it becomes a grave offense. A certain monk who frequented the village of the wife of a householder named Good Birth went to her and said: Wife of the householder, I am covered and tormented by desire. She said: Insert it below and ejaculate above! Insert it above and ejaculate below! She to him...
