If a man lacking in wisdom preaches the Dharma to a woman for more than five or six sentences, and that woman does not understand the language of the borderlands, what happens? He commits a minor offense. If a borderlander, in the language of the holy land, in the absence of a man of wisdom, preaches the Dharma to a woman for more than five or six sentences, and that woman does not understand the language of the holy land, what happens? He commits a minor offense. The venerable Upali asked the Blessed One: Bhikshu, the Blessed One said that if a bhikshu recites the Dharma together with a person who has not taken full ordination, he will commit a downfall.
