He commits a misdeed. If he makes a new sitting cloth for another, what happens? He commits a misdeed. If he repairs another's old sitting cloth and uses it, what happens? He commits a misdeed. If he has a householder make a new sitting cloth in front of him and uses it, what happens? He commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. Similarly, for a novice monk, a novice nun, a female trainee, a student, one who was initially discordant, one who has previously committed a transgression, one who lives by stealing, one who lives separately, from one who should not reside to one who confesses, if he has a new sitting cloth made and uses it, what happens? He commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. Bhikshu, suppose a bhikshu has outsiders, other heretics, renunciates, Brahmins, practitioners, and wanderers make a new sitting cloth and uses it, what happens? He commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. If he has a new sitting cloth made for beings living in other places, what happens? He commits a misdeed. Ananda, there are. Like this, the type of the new sitting cloth is allowed, but the material is not allowed; the type is not allowed, but the material is allowed; or both are not allowed. If one thinks that it should not be used for the excess, and uses it deceptively, what happens? One commits a Dukkhata offense. One commits a Dukkhata offense.
