The Brahmin youths (said): How is it, have all our thoughts and expectations been completely fulfilled? They rejoiced and were delighted, and with great joy in their hearts, they said to the Khenpo: O Khenpo, please generate joy! What you thought, Khenpo, is even more extraordinary than that! He said: For example, what kind? Didn't you say, Khenpo, that one should not examine a daughter by lineage, bloodline, or ancestry, but should only examine her beautiful appearance? We have found a woman who is beautiful in appearance and possesses lineage, bloodline, ancestry, and wealth. For example, what kind? Those Brahmin youths extensively narrated what they had been asked, even mentioning the moon, the sun, the stars, and moments. Khenpo, we have certainly done so, Khenpo, now please know that the time has come! Then, the Brahmin Nyagrodha, like a great Sala tree, heard those stories and rejoiced and was delighted, and with great joy in his heart, he offered food, drinks, beverages, clothes, garments, and various kinds of jewels to those Brahmin youths. Then, the Brahmin youth Nyagrodha-born, upon hearing that the girl's appearance and complexion were so outstanding, became disappointed, thinking: Hearing that her appearance is so beautiful, she must be a person with strong desire, I should go and examine her myself first. So, the Brahmin youth Nyagrodha-born said to his parents: Parents, I should first touch her entrance, and then marry her. The two of them agreed. Then, the Brahmin youth Nyagrodha-born, together with a Brahmin youth, set out from the city of Nyagrodha, and traveled to the city of Kapilavastu, eventually passing through villages, towns, rural areas, and the royal palace, and arrived at the city of Kapila. Then, the Brahmin youth Nyagrodha-born, tired from the road, rested, holding a bowl of leaves, and entered the city of Kapila for alms. He went from house to house begging for alms, and came to the house of the Shakya clan, the Brahmin like a great Sala tree.

They went to the mother's residence. Then, the Shakya maiden named Bhadra came holding a begging bowl, and was seen by the Brahmin boy Nyagrodha. Having seen her, he thought, 'This maiden is she.' Then, the Brahmin boy Nyagrodha said these words to the maiden: 'Whose daughter are you?' She replied thus: 'Of the Shakya clan. Have you been given to another?' She replied thus: 'I have heard that my parents have given me to the Brahmin residing in the city of Nyagrodha, who is like a great Sala tree, to the son of Nyagrodha, who is called Nyagrodha-born.' He said to her: 'Bhadra, why do you need such a household? Whoever becomes a household, know that it is without a household.' 'Like what?' She replied thus: 'It is not for pursuing desires, what use is such a household? Son of the king, well done, well done! You have completely relieved me. I feel as if you have just empowered me with nectar.' He replied thus: 'Why?' Brahmin boy, I am also not one who pursues desires. He also said thus: To the rich and the poor, Seeing you equally is delightful, This is a coating that agrees with the heart, Not sandalwood or safflower. However, I have no power; if my parents give me to a household, what should I do?' Then, the Brahmin boy Nyagrodha said these words to the Shakya maiden Bhadra: 'Bhadra, be firm and trust! That Brahmin boy Nyagrodha is I.' Then, the Shakya maiden Bhadra, having heard those words from that Brahmin boy, became greatly delighted and completely relieved, and said these words to Nyagrodha-born: 'Brahmin boy, please firmly keep your vow! The noble ones are firm in keeping their vows.' Then, the Brahmin boy Nyagrodha, having consulted with the Shakya maiden Bhadra, went again to the city of Nyagrodha. Like the Nyagrodha tree, Nyagrodha acted according to the householder's dharma for householders, and took the Brahmin son Nyagrodha as his wife. When the virtuous woman was taken in the city of Nyagrodha, the parents of the Brahmin son Nyagrodha placed the Brahmin son Nyagrodha and the daughter of the Shakya clan, the virtuous woman, in one place. They prepared two beds for the two of them. Then, the Brahmin son Nyagrodha said to the daughter of the Shakya clan, the virtuous woman: Virtuous woman, please remember the previous vow. The daughter of the Shakya clan, the virtuous woman, also said to the Brahmin son Nyagrodha: Prince, please consider it as well, and they stayed like a mother and son. Then, the Brahmin like the great Sala tree, Nyagrodha, together with his wife, hurt those who served them. How did the Brahmin son Nyagrodha live with his wife? They said: Like a mother and son together, or a son and mother together. Having heard that, the Brahmin like the great Sala tree, Nyagrodha, together with his wife, said: It is our own fault, not theirs, because we prepared two beds for them. Thinking thus, they placed one bed and one small bed. Then, the Brahmin son Nyagrodha thought: Alas, my parents have undertaken this great non-dharma practice for us. The daughter of the Shakya clan, the virtuous woman, understood the intention of the parents of the Brahmin son Nyagrodha, and said to the Brahmin son Nyagrodha: Prince, please unite for the sake of you and me. However, please consider the previous vow. He said: Make it smaller than the heart and do not be a bride. Then, in the upper part of the night, the daughter of the Shakya clan, the virtuous woman, slept in bed. Nyagrodha stayed and sat on the small bed. In the middle of the night, Nyagrodha slept. The virtuous woman stayed and sat. In the lower part of the night, the virtuous woman slept again. Nyagrodha
