DKG009 0003.Explaining the Twenty Saṃghāvaśeṣa Dharmas.g2.0f

English

If you let it go, that's good. If you don't let it go, then this Dharma will also fall into decline with three times as the limit, along with the root, which is Sanghavasesa. Holy mothers, I have finished reciting the twenty Sanghavasesa Dharmas. Among them, twelve are fallen by the first offense, and eight are limited to three times. If a Bhikshuni commits any of these offenses, as long as she knowingly conceals it, she must be forced to move. After the Bhikshuni is forced to move, she must practice actions that satisfy both Sanghas for half a month afterwards. After the Bhikshuni has practiced actions that satisfy both sides, if she prevents expulsion, she must act in accordance with the Dharma, satisfying both sides, and expel the Bhikshuni in a place where there is an assembly of forty members of both Sanghas. If the assembly of forty members of both Sanghas is missing one person and expels the Bhikshuni, then the Bhikshuni has not been expelled, and both Sanghas will be blamed, because that is the ritual. In this regard, I will ask the holy mothers, are you pure in this? I will ask twice, three times, are you pure in this? If the holy mothers are pure in this, then it will be recognized by this silence. Summary: Holding, separating, placing, etc., washing and accepting, etc., begging and upper and lower garments, etc., raising prices separately. Holy mothers, these thirty-three Nissaggiya Pacittiya Dharmas arise from reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra every half month. After a Bhikshuni obtains a Dharma robe, she takes out the hard frame and holds it for ten days without making the remaining clothes. If she holds it for longer than this, she commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. After a Bhikshuni obtains a Dharma robe and takes out the hard frame, if even for one night she separates any of the five Dharma robes from the boundary, unless the Sangha allows it, she commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. After a Bhikshuni obtains a Dharma robe and takes out the hard frame, she obtains an untimely garment. If she wants, the Bhikshuni should accept the garment. After accepting it, if it is enough, she should make it into a garment as soon as possible.

It should be sewn. If it is not enough, hoping to use fabric to make up for what is lacking, then the Bhikshuni should keep that garment until the end of the month. Keeping it beyond that time is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. Furthermore, any Bhikshuni who washes, boils, or sews old clothes of a Bhikshu who is not a relative commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. Furthermore, any Bhikshuni who receives clothes from someone who is not a relative, except for exchange, commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. Furthermore, any Bhikshuni who goes to a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative to ask for clothes, except for the proper time, commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. The proper time is this: if a Bhikshuni's clothes are robbed, lost, burned, carried away by the wind, or carried away by the water, that is the proper time. If a Bhikshuni's clothes are robbed, lost, burned, carried away by the wind, or carried away by the water, she should go to a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative to receive them. If there is a Brahmin or a faithful householder who has accumulated many clothes and wants to donate, then the Bhikshuni should receive from them the maximum amount, including the upper and lower garments. Receiving more than that amount is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. For the sake of a Bhikshuni, a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative has accumulated the price of these clothes, thinking, "I will use the price of these clothes to buy this or that kind of garment, and when the Bhikshuni named so-and-so comes, I will timely dress her in a suitable garment." After that, if the Bhikshuni has not indicated beforehand and some thoughts arise, for the sake of good, she goes to a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative and says this: "Venerable one, because of me, you have accumulated the price of clothes, please, venerable one, use the price of those clothes to buy this or that kind of garment, and timely dress me in a suitable garment." Having said this, if the garment is completed, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. For the sake of a Bhikshuni, a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative has each accumulated the price of clothes, thinking, "We two will use our respective prices of clothes to buy this or that kind of separate garment, and when the Bhikshuni named so-and-so comes, we two"

Each thought that the appropriate clothes could be worn in due time. If the Bhikshuni had not been informed beforehand, but some discrimination arose, and for a good purpose, she went to a non-relative donor or the donor's wife, saying: "Venerable one, with the various prices of cloth that I have accumulated for myself, please buy various cloths like this and that with these prices of cloth, and then combine them, please make a suitable garment for me in due time." If the garment is made, it is an offense of expiation. For the sake of a Bhikshuni, if a king or a great minister, or a Brahmin, or a householder, or a townsperson, or a villager, or a wealthy person, or a merchant, or a captain, sends the price of cloth to a messenger, and then that messenger takes those prices of cloth and goes to that Bhikshuni, saying to the Bhikshuni: "Holy Mother, please know, King or Great Minister, or Brahmin, or Householder, or Townsperson, or Villager, or Wealthy Person, or Merchant, or Captain so-and-so, has sent these prices of cloth." Please accept these for the sake of compassion, Holy Mother. If he says this, the Bhikshuni says to the messenger: "Venerable Messenger, Bhikshunis are not allowed to accept the price of cloth, we will only accept if we get suitable clothes in due time." If the messenger says to the Bhikshuni: "Holy Mothers, is there anyone who is responsible for handling the affairs of the Holy Mothers, who accepts the instructions of the Holy Mothers?" If the Bhikshuni who wants clothes, then instructs the messenger: "This person is responsible for handling the affairs of the Bhikshunis, this person is accepting the instructions of the Bhikshunis," referring to the monastery or the layperson responsible for handling affairs. Then the messenger takes the price of cloth and goes to the person responsible for handling affairs, and after going, says to the person responsible for handling affairs: "Venerable person responsible for handling affairs, please know, please buy clothes like this and that with these prices of cloth, and after the Bhikshuni named so-and-so comes, please make a suitable garment for her in due time." Then
