From the center of... he went to Varanasi for alms. In that great charnel ground, there lived a fierce yaksha who ate the decaying corpses there. When that supreme Pratyekabuddha went to that great charnel ground, that fierce yaksha fled from that great charnel ground by the power of the gods. After those decaying corpses were eaten by foxes and the like, that fierce yaksha thought: This renunciate has become an obstacle to my stomach, I will do disrespect to him. Thinking, he put a human hand into his bowl. Throughout Varanasi, the sound spread that the renunciate was eating human flesh. That great Pratyekabuddha thought: This fierce yaksha's afflictions are very serious, it would not be good if he became weak, I should give him some food. Thinking, because of his compassion for him, he appeared in the sky above like the king of swans spreading his wings, and began to perform miracles of burning, manifesting, raining, and lightning. Because ordinary people are quick to put their minds on miracles, that fierce yaksha fell at the feet of that Pratyekabuddha like a tree being uprooted, and said: Venerable one, please descend, please descend. Please pull me up from the mud of afflictions. I have spoken untrue praises to you. Throughout Varanasi, the sound also spread that the renunciate does not eat human flesh, he speaks untrue praises to him. That Pratyekabuddha, out of compassion for that fierce yaksha, descended from the sky above. Then, that fierce yaksha took the human hand from his bowl and threw it on the ground, prostrated at his feet, and made this aspiration: May the evil deeds I have done that are in accordance with the harm I have done to such a venerable one as you not ripen, and may the roots of virtue of the offerings I have made cause this incomparably excellent teacher to rejoice, and may the qualities that do not displease him...

May you attain such a result." Monks, that malevolent yaksha at that time was this very Maha Kala. Due to the ripening of the karma of falsely accusing the solitary buddha, he suffered in the hells of sentient beings for many lifetimes. From the remainder of that karma, he falsely accused for five hundred lifetimes. Even now, having attained the state of an arhat, he is still being falsely accused. Due to the ripening of the karma of making offerings and aspirations, he has gone forth in my presence, abandoned all defilements, and directly realized the state of an arhat. This one has pleased me, the teacher who is far superior to hundreds of millions of solitary buddhas, and has not displeased me. The reason why this one is always associated with cemeteries is due to the habitual tendencies from having resided in that cemetery. Monks, therefore, the ripening of purely dark karma is purely dark. The ripening of purely white karma is also purely white. The ripening of mixed karma is also mixed. Monks, therefore, having abandoned purely dark karma and mixed karma, you should strive in purely white karma. Monks, you should train yourselves in this way. Intermediate summary: All associated with cemeteries, the gatekeeper and the daughter, the Brahmin deceived and the five givings and takings, fruits and other five, giving water and toothpicks, and the elephant, monkey, and bear, combined with the previous rules. The offense of eating without permission, the thirty-ninth, is completed. Vinaya-vibhanga, the fifty-fourth fascicle. When the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was traveling among the Shakyas, he arrived at Kapilavastu and resided in the Nyagrodha garden in Kapilavastu. The great Shakya named Mahanama heard that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was traveling among the Shakyas and had arrived at Kapilavastu, residing in the Nyagrodha garden in Kapilavastu. Having heard this, he came out from Kapilavastu and went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived,

Then, Shakya Ming bowed to the Blessed One's two feet with his head and sat down to one side. After sitting down to one side, the Blessed One gave Shakya Ming a true teaching with Dharma-related instructions. He made him truly accept it. He made him truly praise it. He made him truly rejoice. With many methods, he taught him truly with Dharma-related instructions. He made him truly accept it. He made him truly praise it. He made him truly rejoice, and then he said nothing more. Then, Shakya Ming rose from his seat, placed his upper robe on one shoulder, and bowed with his palms together towards the Blessed One. He said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, would you please grant me the honor of having you and the Sangha of monks come to my house tomorrow for a meal?" The Blessed One said nothing to Shakya Ming, indicating his acceptance. Then, Shakya Ming, knowing that the Blessed One's silence meant acceptance, bowed to the Blessed One's two feet with his head. He left the Blessed One's presence and went to his own house. He went and said to those who lived on yogurt: "Wise ones, the Blessed One and the Sangha of monks will be tired from their journey, so please prepare the alms food and meals early." The group of six monks rose early in the morning and said: "The agreeable one, the near agreeable one, let's go see the houses that people are going to." They replied: "Let's do that." Then they went to the houses that people were going to, and those people said: "Noble ones, please accept the meal here." The group of six monks said: "We have been invited." By whom? By Shakya Ming. "Well then, please accept the meal tomorrow." They replied: "Let's do that." Then, Shakya Ming rose early in the morning, prepared the seats, and set out the water. Then he invited the Blessed One, saying: "Venerable one, the meal is ready, please know that the time has come." Then, the Blessed One, in the morning, put on his lower robe, took his bowl and Dharma robe, and surrounded by the assembly of monks, with the Sangha of monks leading the way, went to the place of Shakya Ming's residence. Having arrived, the monk
