Do not create disputes! Say this to the monks: "Venerable ones, whether you are virtuous or wicked, do not say anything to this monk. Why is that? Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a holder of the Vinaya. This monk correctly accepts and fully grasps the Dharma and Vinaya, and then explains them. This monk speaks intentionally, not unintentionally. Do not say: 'Whatever this monk likes and tolerates, we also like and tolerate.' Why is that? Venerable ones, this monk is not a speaker of the Dharma, not a holder of the Vinaya. Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of what is not Dharma, a speaker of what is not Vinaya. This monk incorrectly accepts and fully grasps what is not Dharma and what is not Vinaya, and then explains them. This monk speaks unintentionally, not intentionally. Whatever this monk likes and tolerates, venerable ones, do not like and tolerate. Venerable ones, do not desire to split the Sangha, but desire that the Sangha be harmonious. Venerable ones, be in harmony with the Sangha! A harmonious Sangha does not split, is joyful, and does not argue. Just as water and milk are mixed together, becoming one. If you can illuminate the Buddha's teachings, you will abide in happiness. Venerable ones, abandon those who follow the splitting of the Sangha and speak disharmoniously, and admonish them in this way!" Even when admonished, the monks stubbornly cling to their own views, are extremely attached, believe that only they are the truth and that others are false, and continue to explain. At this time, the monks reported this matter in detail to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: "Monks, you should admonish and treat Kokalika, Khandadhvaja, Katamoraka-Katishya, Samudradatta, and others like them with the four karmas. You should admonish in this way: arrange the dwelling, strike the gandi, and then ask the question."

Having correctly admonished the monks, when all the Sangha is dwelling in harmony, one monk should make a request and then begin the karma. Venerable Sangha, please listen! Kokalika, Khandadraya, Katamorakatishya, and Samudradatta, these people, to those who become coarse in order to divide the harmony of the Sangha, and who will create disputes that cause division, correctly accept and completely hold on to them, as their friends, and speak discordant words. If the monks admonish these people, even if the monks admonish these people, they still insist on and are particularly attached to that root, and manifest prejudice, saying, "This is the truth, and the others are false," thereby establishing names accordingly. If the time of the Sangha has come and it is tolerable, then please let the Sangha allow it. The Sangha says to Kokali, Khandadraya, Katamorakatishya, and Samudradatta: "Venerable ones, knowingly, do not befriend those who become coarse in order to divide the harmony of the Sangha, and who will create disputes that cause division, correctly accept and completely hold on to them, and do not follow those who speak discordant words." To the monks, say this: "Venerable ones, whether you are good or bad, do not say anything to the monk." What is the reason for that? "Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a holder of the Vinaya, this monk correctly accepts and completely holds on to the Dharma and Vinaya, thereby establishing names accordingly, this monk speaks knowingly, not unknowingly." Do not say, "Whatever this monk likes and tolerates, we also like and tolerate." What is the reason for that? "Venerable ones, this monk is not a speaker of the Dharma, not a holder of the Vinaya." "Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of what is not Dharma, a speaker of what is not Vinaya, this monk correctly accepts and completely holds on to what is not Dharma and what is not Vinaya, thereby establishing names accordingly, this monk speaks unknowingly, not knowingly." Whatever this monk likes and tolerates
