Suppressing and suppressing, and saying: Do not treat you like unselected earthenware vessels, but leave what is valuable, please tolerate the path of my words. Then, Devadatta said to Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katamora Katishya, and Samudradatta: Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katamora Katishya, Samudradatta, come here. While the ascetic Gautama is alive, the Sangha of the Shravakas should be divided, and the Wheel of Dharma should also be divided. Thus, when we die and the time is ripe, the great assembly of the sound of good reputation will spread conspicuously in all directions, saying that the ascetic Gautama is so powerful and so powerful that Devadatta, Kokalika, Khandadhara, Katamora Katishya, and Samudradatta divided the Sangha of the Shravakas and also divided the Wheel of Dharma. Devadatta, we cannot do that. Why? Because the Shravakas of the Blessed One have great power, great supernatural powers, have the divine eye, and are able to know the minds of others, those who can see far away and also see near, and their minds will pervade our minds, and their minds will also fully understand us, so they will also understand us, the noble ones. Kokalika, there are some methods. Devadatta, what is that method? Come, let us go to visit the elder monks. Elders, please relax a little, and we will serve the elders with all the requisites, so that they will not be burdened by all the requisites. For the young monks, they should be reverenced and served with alms bowls, robes, nets, bowls, belts, keys, reading, chanting, yoga, and attention. Devadatta, if there is such a method, then do it. Then, Devadatta disguised himself in order to divide the Sangha, and the elder monks immediately revealed that Devadatta was going to...

He is acting deceitfully in order to divide the Sangha! Having thus realized, the monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, Devadatta and anyone else like him should be admonished and instructed. They should be admonished and instructed thus: Venerable Devadatta, do not act deceitfully in order to divide the Sangha! Do not initiate disputes with the aim of division and cling to them! Venerable Devadatta, you should be in harmony with the Sangha! When the Sangha is in harmony, undivided, everyone is happy, there are no disputes, opinions are unified, voices are unified, like water and milk mixed together, and if you can propagate the teachings of the Teacher, you will abide in happiness. Venerable Devadatta, you should abandon this kind of behavior that divides the Sangha! The monks, having heard the Blessed One's teachings, said to Devadatta: Venerable Devadatta, do not act deceitfully in order to divide the Sangha! Although the monks admonished and instructed him in this way, he still stubbornly insisted on his own views and was deluded, claiming, "Only I am the truth, and everything else is false." The monks reported this matter in detail to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Monks, you should admonish Devadatta and anyone else like him with exhortation and the four karmas. You should admonish in this way: Arrange the dwelling, strike the gandi, and truthfully inform the monks with words of inquiry, so that all the Sangha may be seated.
