།ཕྱོགས་བཞི་ནས་གླང་པོ་ཆེ་རྣམས་ལྷགས་ཏེ་དེ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་བདག་འབྲས་ཕྱེ་བཞིན་དུ་འཐག་པར་བྱེད་དོ་ཞེས་སྨྲས་པ་གང་ཡིན་པ་དེ་ནི་འདི་ལྟར་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་དགྲོངས་པའི་ཕྱིར་གླང་པོ་ཆེའི་དམ་པ་ནོར་སྐྱོང་རྦད་པ་དེའི་ལས་ཀྱི་འབྲས་བུ་ཡིན་ནོ། །སློབ་མ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཇི་ལྟ་ཇི་ལྟར་བདག་གི་ཆད་པ་ལ་བགྱི་བ་བགྱིད་པ་དེ་ལྟ་དེ་ལྟར་བདག་གིས་ཆེས་མི་བཟད་པའི་ཚོར་བ་ཉམས་སུ་མྱོང་བ་ལགས་ཀྱིས། བདག་གི་གནས་སྐབས་དེ་དག་ལ་རིག་པར་བགྱིས་ནས། བཙུན་པ་ལྷ་སྦྱིན་གྱིས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་བཀའ་མ་ལགས་པར་བགྱིས་པས་མནར་མ་མཆིས་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་དམྱལ་བ་ཆེན་པོར་ལྟུང་བ་ལ་གཟིགས། བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། དགེ་སློང་དག་ད་ལྟར་གྱི་འདི་འབའ་ཞིག་ཏུ་མ་ཟད་དེ། The two of them said: "Do you have any particular suffering?" He said: "Let alone the common suffering of the beings in Avīci Hell, I have additional suffering. Listen! Iron mountains blaze, blaze intensely, blaze completely, and become a single flame, coming towards me and grinding me like sesame seeds. Saws with teeth on both sides cut off my limbs and extremities. Iron hammers blaze, blaze intensely, blaze completely, and become a single flame, quickly smashing my head into powder. There are great iron elephants on all four sides, and they grind me like grinding rice flour." The Venerable Śāriputra and Maudgalyāyana said: "Devadatta, you said that iron mountains blaze, blaze intensely, blaze completely, and become a single flame, coming and grinding you like sesame seeds. That is the result of your karma of throwing a stone from Vulture Peak in order to kill the Blessed One. You said that saws with teeth on both sides blaze, blaze intensely, blaze completely, and become a single flame, cutting off all your limbs and extremities. That is the result of your karma of splitting the Blessed One's community of śrāvakas. Iron hammers blaze, blaze intensely, blaze completely, and become a single flame.

This is because you whipped the best of elephants, Nor-skyong, in order to kill the Blessed One, that is the result of his karma. Even so, the Blessed One has prophesied you. Venerable Shariputra, in what circumstances? Monks, Devadatta, by severing the roots of virtue, will dwell in the Avici hell for a kalpa, and then will become a Pratyekabuddha named Bone. He said: Venerable Shariputra, if that is so, I would rather dwell alone in the Avici hell. Vinaya-vastu, Volume 109, the last. Then, the venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana went to where Kokalika and others were. As soon as they arrived, Kokalika's tongue was plowed by a hundred plows. Brahma, the lord of the Sahā world, said to Kokalika: Kokalika, the monks Shariputra and Maudgalyayana act like Brahma, generate faith in loving-kindness. When Kokalika saw the venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, he said: Have these two sinners come here again? As soon as he spoke, Kokalika's tongue was plowed by a thousand plows. Then, the venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana thought, "There is nothing to be done for these people," and returned to where Purana Kashyapa was. Then, Purana Kashyapa knelt at the feet of the venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana and said: Holy Shariputra, because I preached false Dharma and deceived the assembly of beings, my tongue is plowed by five hundred plows. The more the disciples punish me, the more unbearable I feel.
