As previously stated, up to "abiding in front." Then, the Blessed One, knowing the thoughts, habits, dispositions, and natures of Dhanapāla, Dhanapāla's wife, Dhanapāla's son, and Dhanapāla's daughter-in-law, whoever heard it, the view of the perishable aggregates of Dhanapāla, Dhanapāla's wife, Dhanapāla's son, and Dhanapāla's daughter-in-law, was destroyed by the vajra of wisdom as high as twenty mountain peaks, and the fruit of stream-entry was manifested as it is. In order for them to realize the noble truths individually, he taught the Dharma. After hearing the Dharma, they saw the truth and said three times "for the sake of..." From "for the sake of..." to "we are the excellent ones," it is all as previously stated. We take refuge in the Blessed One, the Dharma, and the Sangha. We request the Blessed One to accept us as lay practitioners. Even if we give up our lives, we will not abandon our refuge until the end of our lives, and we truly believe in taking refuge. Then, the Blessed One taught, exhorted, encouraged, and rejoiced Dhanapāla, Dhanapāla's wife, Dhanapāla's son, and Dhanapāla's daughter-in-law with words that were in accordance with the Dharma, and then he rose from his seat and departed. Vinaya-vastu, Volume 57. The monks arose with doubts, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: Venerable Dhanapāla, Dhanapāla's attendants, Dhanapāla's son, and Dhanapāla's daughter-in-law, what deeds did they do that, with the maturation of those deeds, they were born into a wealthy, rich, and abundantly enjoying lineage, and enjoyed the glory of gods and humans? The Blessed One said: Monks, it is precisely these people who have done and accumulated these deeds, from "named accumulation" to "becoming fruits," it is all as previously stated. Monks, in the past in Varanasi, there was a garland maker who took a woman of the same lineage as his wife. He played, rejoiced, and enjoyed happiness with her.

After acting, a boy was born. He also took a wife from the same clan. Later, there was a time when they became poor and very poor. He, his son, his wife, and his daughter-in-law worked hard to make a piece of cloth. Then, the flower garland maker also divided it, offering flowers to the king. The flower garland maker's wife also divided it, offering it to the queen. The flower garland maker's son also divided it, offering it to the young people. The flower garland maker's daughter-in-law also divided it, offering flower garlands to the king's concubines. When the Buddhas do not appear, solitary Buddhas will appear in the world, compassionate to the inferior and the wicked, dwelling in remote places, the sole objects of offering in the world. So, when a solitary Buddha was traveling, he arrived in Varanasi at sunset and spent the night in the garden of the flower garland maker's house at the city gate, entering the fire element samadhi. Then, the flower garland maker saw what looked like a burning fire and developed faith, telling his wife, who also developed faith. He told his son, who also developed faith. He told his daughter-in-law, who also developed faith. Then, they began to discuss: Even if we don't eat tomorrow, let's offer food to this renunciate, peaceful one. Then, the next morning, they offered him alms. The flower garland maker said: Good wife, let's offer my share of the cloth to this renunciate. She said: Master's son, I will also offer mine. The son said: I will also offer mine. The daughter-in-law said: I will also offer mine. Then, they gathered together and draped the cloth over him. Those great beings teach the Dharma with their bodies, not with words. Then, that great being, out of compassion for them, rose into the sky and began to perform miracles of burning, shining, raining, and lightning. Ordinary people quickly develop faith in miracles.
