Then, the Blessed One washed his bowl in this way, entered Sālā for alms, and after washing it in this way, he returned without obtaining any food. Thus, he blessed it in this way. Then, the evil Māra manifested himself in the form of a Brahmin boy, followed the Blessed One, and said, "Ascetic, have you not obtained any food?" Then, the Blessed One thought, "Alas! This approaching one is the evil Māra, who is doing various disturbing things." Having understood this, he spoke in verse: Because you despise the Tathāgata, you accumulate much non-merit. The Buddhas are difficult to overcome. Evil one, do you not know this? Ascetic, therefore, go again to the wide field for alms, and how will you obtain food?" Then, the Blessed One spoke in verse at that time: I have nothing at all, alas! I live in great happiness, like the radiant gods, eating the food of joy. I have nothing at all, alas! I live in great happiness, not relying on the view of the destructible aggregates, eating the food of joy. Then, the evil Māra thought, "The mind of the ascetic Gautama knows my thoughts." Having realized this, he became invisible there due to suffering, displeasure, and regret. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ānanda, "Ānanda, where shall we go to the well?" The venerable Ānanda acted according to the Blessed One's instructions, as he had heard them. Then, the Blessed One went to the well. At the well, there was another woman carrying a rope, water, and a water pot, going to the well. Another man, with a mind entangled in attachment to her, followed her closely. She was also particularly attached to him, and the two embraced each other and entered the well. Their son, a young child, followed them together. Then, thinking of that man, "Will he abandon the water pot?" Around the neck of the young child with a rope...

Then, due to indulgence, he died. He heard a verse he had never heard before: "Desire, I know your root, desire arises from conceptualization. If I do not conceptualize you, then desire will not arise in me." The Blessed One also went that way. Then, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Ananda: "Ananda, remember this verse. This verse was spoken by the perfectly enlightened Buddhas of the past. Because it has fallen into the hands of ordinary people, it is not obvious, not clear, completely unclear." The Blessed One said: "I have not seen any dharma that changes as quickly as the mind." Then, that woman, tormented by the grief of her son, prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One. The Blessed One, knowing her thoughts, habits, nature, and essence, taught her the corresponding Dharma. After hearing it, that woman destroyed the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. Having realized the truth, she said three times especially: "Venerable, I have received such benefit, not done by my mother, not done by my father, not done by the king, not done by the gods, not done by the Buddhas of the past, not done by the ascetics and Brahmins, not done by suffering, not done by my own relatives and kinsmen, but done by the Blessed One for me. I, relying on the virtuous friend, the Blessed One, have destroyed the gates of the evil realms, opened the gates of the higher realms and liberation, rescued beings from hell, animals, and hungry ghosts, placed them in the realms of gods and humans, lengthened the rope of samsara, dried up the ocean of blood and tears, liberated them from the mountain of bones, and destroyed the twenty high peaks of the mountain of the view of the aggregates accumulated from beginningless time with the vajra of wisdom, and realized the fruit of stream-entry. Venerable, I am enlightened, completely enlightened. I go for refuge to the Blessed One, the Dharma, and the Sangha. Please accept me as a laywoman from now on."

Until the end of my life, I will offer even my life to take refuge in you. Then, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Ananda: Ananda, when I became a Bodhisattva, in this very place, the son of the ascetic Nganpong invited me to a seat and offered roots, trunks, and fruits. In another place, the Blessed One also said: Ananda, when I became a Bodhisattva, I became disgusted with aging and so on. In this very place, Indra, the lord of the gods, disguised himself as a hunter, and I gave him a piece of Kashika cloth in exchange for a kasaya robe. Brahmins and devout householders built a stupa called "Taking the Kasaya," and even now monks prostrate themselves before the stupa. Indra, the lord of the gods, also took the Kashika cloth back to the thirty-three gods and established a great Kashika festival. Even now, the thirty-three gods celebrate this festival. In another place, the Blessed One also said: Ananda, when I became a Bodhisattva, in this place, I cut off my hair with a sword like a blue lotus and threw it into the sky. Brahmins and devout householders did not build a stupa called "Taking the Hair." Even now, monks prostrate themselves before the stupa. Indra, the lord of the gods, also took the hair back to the thirty-three gods and established a great hair-knot festival. Even now, the thirty-three gods celebrate this festival. In another place, the Blessed One also said: Ananda, in this place, the horse king Sangnamden was brought here by Adunpa and then released. Brahmins and devout householders built a stupa called "Sangnamden Released." Even now, monks prostrate themselves before the stupa. Then, the Blessed One went to the Black Forest. There, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Ananda: Ananda, in this Black Forest, the son of Adunpa was born and grew up here. Then
