For those sentient beings who are in hell, coolness descends. For those sentient beings who are in the cold hells, warmth descends. Thus, the various differences in suffering of those sentient beings are each pacified. They think to themselves: 'Wise ones, have we died and transmigrated from here? Or have we been born elsewhere?' In order to generate faith in them, the Bhagavan sent forth an emanation. Having seen the emanation, they think to themselves: 'Wise ones, we have neither died and transmigrated from here, nor have we been born elsewhere, but through the power of this sentient being, whom we have not seen before, the various differences in our suffering have each been pacified.' Thus, they develop great faith in the emanation, thereby exhausting the karma that would cause them to experience hell, and then they take rebirth among the gods and humans who are fit vessels for the truths. Those who went upwards went into the retinues of the Four Great Kings, the Thirty-three, the No Strife, the Joyful, the Delighting in Emanation, the Controlling Others' Emanations, the Brahma retinue, the Brahma's Ministers, the Great Brahma, the Small Light, the Immeasurable Light, the Clear Light, the Small Virtue, the Immeasurable Virtue, the Extensive Virtue, the Cloudless, the Merit-born, the Great Fruit, the Non-Great, the Non-Afflicted, the Abundant Appearance, the Extremely Visible, and the Akanistha gods, proclaiming the sound of impermanence and suffering, emptiness and selflessness, and also proclaimed with two verses: 'One should strive and bring forth, one should enter the Buddha's teachings, like an elephant entering a reed house, one should destroy the army of the Lord of Death. Whoever, with extreme diligence, strives in this Dharma and discipline, having completely abandoned the cycle of birth, will put an end to suffering.' Then, those rays of light permeated the realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world system and followed after the Bhagavan. If the Bhagavan wished to prophesy past actions, then they would sink into the Bhagavan's robe. If he wished to prophesy the future, then in front.

It will fall elsewhere. If it is desired to prophesy that one will be born in hell, then it will fall into the sole of the foot. If it is desired to prophesy that one will be born as an animal, then it will fall into the heel of the foot. If it is desired to prophesy that one will be born as a hungry ghost, then it will fall into the big toe. If it is desired to prophesy that one will be born as a human, then it will fall into the knee. If it is desired to prophesy that one will become a powerful wheel-turning king, then it will fall into the palm of the left hand. If it is desired to prophesy that one will become a wheel-turning king, then it will fall into the palm of the right hand. If it is desired to prophesy that one will be born in the realm of the gods, then it will fall into the navel. If it is desired to prophesy that one will attain the Bodhi of a Hearer, then it will fall into the mouth. If it is desired to prophesy that one will attain the Bodhi of a Pratyekabuddha, then it will fall into the urna. If it is desired to prophesy that one will attain the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Bodhi, then it will fall into the crown of the head. Then, those rays of light circumambulated the Bhagavan three times, and then fell into the crown of the Bhagavan's head. Then, the Venerable Ananda, with his palms joined, asked the Bhagavan: The rays of various colors, adorned with thousands, that emerged from the mouth of the assembly, like an umbrella rising, illuminate all directions. Again, he requested with verses: Free from arrogance, dejection, and pride, having become the supreme cause of the Buddha among beings, the Victorious One, without any cause for conquering enemies, with limbs as white as a conch shell, why do you not show a smile? Therefore, knowing the time with steadfast wisdom, the Lord of the Victors, the best of men, please listen, in order to dispel the doubts of the listeners, please dispel the doubts with steadfast words, and with noble and virtuous ones. Like a mountain of saltwater, steadfast and supreme, the Perfect Buddhas do not suddenly show a smile. Why does the steadfast one show a smile? Please let most people hear this. The Bhagavan said: Ananda, it is so. It is so. Ananda, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, does not smile without a cause or condition. Ananda
