Enlightenment is the inconceivable equality. There is no attachment to letters in it, and no attachment to words and phrases. The Blessed One said: Son of good family, it is just so. In the realm of Dharma, words and phrases do not appear, and meanings do not appear either. Then, the youth Manjushri said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is the common cause of emptiness? What is its aspect? What is its sign? What is its characteristic? The Blessed One said: Manjushri, emptiness is inexpressible and unutterable. Whoever has faith in this inexpressible Dharma nature is called emptiness. Emptiness is without letters, therefore it is called emptiness. Emptiness is unutterable, therefore it is called emptiness. Son of good family, all dharmas are empty by their very nature. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, please observe the various miraculous manifestations of the Bodhisattvas who abide in the inconceivable Dharma. The Blessed One said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, the wisdom of a Bodhisattva who has generated the first thought is supreme, but the wisdom of an Arhat is not like that. Why is that? Because an Arhat dwells far away from the dharmas of the Buddhas, while that Bodhisattva will become a Buddha, the Blessed One. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the King of Sovereignty over all Dharmas, said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, as I understand the meaning spoken by the Blessed One, the Shravakas have not attained the dharmas of the Shravakas. The Blessed One said: Son of good family, it is not that the Shravakas have not attained the dharmas of the Shravakas, but where do the Shravakas have the ability and power to answer questions or bless practices together with the Bodhisattvas? Then, the youth Manjushri said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, this Sharadvatiputra is shown by the Tathagata to be the foremost among those with wisdom.

To whom is this teaching directed? The Blessed One said: Manjushri, what I have taught is without teaching. Then, the youthful Manjushri said to the venerable son of Sharadvati: Has the venerable one attained the Dharma of the Hearers? He replied: No. Manjushri said: Then, are you a common person? He replied: No. Manjushri said: Then, are you a learner? He replied: No. Manjushri said: Then, are you the supreme one endowed with wisdom? He replied: No. Manjushri said: If the monk, the son of Sharadvati, is neither a common person, nor a learner, nor the supreme one endowed with wisdom, then you are one with attachment. The son of Sharadvati said: Noble son, I will not contend with you, a noble being as unfathomable as the ocean. Manjushri said: Monk, son of Sharadvati, you are the most senior, please, monk, son of Sharadvati, do not say such things. The venerable one said: Noble son, the state of being old does not attain anything, nor does it realize anything. Noble son, I will give you an example so that you may understand that very meaning. Noble son, for example, even a poor quality diamond can completely destroy a great mountain rock. Noble son, likewise, the wisdom that resides in one pore of your skin is not possessed by beings like me, not even by the number of atoms in a mote of dust. Noble son, I will give you another example so that you may understand that very meaning. Noble son, for example, even a very fierce and immense elephant can be tamed by a strong person with a small hook. Noble son, likewise, you are powerful, and I am weak. How can I contend with such a great elephant? Then, the venerable son of Sharadvati said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, for example, if a blind person walks along a trail, it is of no use even to see a city, let alone to walk from one house to another.

That is not the case. Similarly, in front of these great elephants, I see myself as if I were blind. These Buddhadharmas are so vast. I am not a vessel for the Buddhadharmas, and there is nothing to do now. The Blessed One said: Son of Sharadvati, do not say that. Son of Sharadvati, for example, all the beings touched by the light of the Tathagata have attained the Buddhadharmas. Son of Sharadvati, likewise, you have attained immeasurable and inconceivable samadhi. When the Blessed One spoke this Dharma discourse, ninety-two thousand beings among gods and humans realized the Dharma. Then, the Bodhisattva Dharma Wisdom entered the samadhi called the Immeasurable Yoga of the Bodhisattva's Jewel Ornament Tara. As soon as the Bodhisattva Dharma Wisdom entered samadhi, from beyond the number of dust particles in ten thousand Buddhafields in each of the ten directions, Buddhas, Blessed Ones, appeared, with faces equal to the number of dust particles in ten thousand Buddhafields. All those Buddhas, Blessed Ones, had the same name, Vajragarbha. Just as in one direction, so it was in all ten directions. Those Buddhas, Blessed Ones, said to him: Dharma Wisdom, it is good, it is good that you have entered the Immeasurable Yoga of Bodhisattva Samadhi in this way. Son of good family, for example, due to the past aspirations of the Blessed One, the Tathagata Vairochana, the blessings of the past, and the stability of your own roots of virtue, you should teach all the Dharmas, purify the wisdom of the Buddha, increase the wisdom of the Buddha, enter the Dharmadhatu, liberate the realms of sentient beings, and enter and master unattached wisdom.
