Thus it is said. From 'The Complete Grasp of the Guru's Qualities': 'Relatives and friends left behind, Whatever good is done for the deceased, The ripening result is like a calf to its mother, Wherever they are born, it follows them.' Thus it is said, so there is no doubt that the deceased will receive it. Even if dedication is done for the living, it can bring longevity, pacify illnesses and evil spirits, etc. Many activities of dedication are spoken of in the 'Vajra Banner Dedication Sutra,' 'Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life,' etc. Dedication is like a wish-fulfilling jewel. Jigten Sumgön said: 'The two accumulations are like a wish-fulfilling jewel, If you do not exert effort in making aspirations, The desired result will not arise, Therefore, be diligent in this dedication.' Thus it is said. Temporarily, all happiness and joy will arise, and ultimately, the unerring method for attaining Buddhahood is this dedication. From the 'Sutra Requested by Bhadrapala': 'For example, when rivers go to the ocean, All the taste of salt is the same. Likewise, when dedicated to unsurpassed enlightenment, The taste of the merit of the Victorious Ones becomes one.' Thus it is said. Furthermore, this dedication is also the supreme method for purifying the wealth offered with faith by the patrons. The Bhagavan extensively spoke in the Vinaya and many Sutras about the manner of making dedications after receiving alms and offerings. Jetsun Milarepa said: 'The great yogi meditating in the cave, And the patron who provides sustenance, Have a connection to attain Buddhahood simultaneously. The root of the connection is dedication.' Thus it is said. To perform such a beneficial dedication, the witnesses of the dedication are in the sky in front, on a precious throne held up by eight peacocks, on a seat of various lotuses and moons. The essence of all Buddhas. For offering dedication, inseparable from the peaceful departed. The Bhagavan Amitabha. For dedication to the living, Amitayus. The body color is like a heap of red lotuses, adorned with the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor signs of perfection. To his right is the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, and to his left is the Bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta. Also, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, along with the Sangha of Shravakas.

May it be manifestly clear. Having become the protector of all sentient beings, The god who destroys the unbearable hosts of demons and their armies. Knowing all things as they are, I request the Blessed One with his retinue to come to this place. The welcoming verse. Having anointed the ground with scented water and scattered flowers, This adorned with Mount Meru, the four continents, the sun and moon, By offering, visualizing it as a Buddha-field, May all beings enjoy it in a pure realm. If it is a dedication for the deceased, then, in front of the Blessed One and to the left of the patron, the deceased appears as a sixteen-year-old, wearing spotless white clothes, holding a white lotus flower between their joined palms, kneeling with both knees on the ground, repeating the dedication with great faith and respect. I beseech the Blessed One, the Victorious Buddha Amitabha and all the Buddhas residing in the infinite realms of the ten directions, together with their sons and disciples, all the wise ones endowed with the eye of wisdom, to have compassion on the deceased so-and-so, or the patron so-and-so, or the deceased so-and-so, or the female patron so-and-so. Please consider with great compassion. Please dedicate this root of virtue to a dedication that transcends the world, a dedication that is completely pure in the three spheres. Just as the noble Manjushri and other great close sons made dedications in the past, may the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, dedicate this root of virtue with the supreme dedication that is widely praised. This is because we ordinary beings cannot directly perform a dedication that transcends the world, so we pray that the noble ones will do it for us. For all the merit and wisdom accumulated by the Sugatas of the ten directions and three times, together with their sons and disciples, I rejoice and applaud. The holy ones also rejoice and applaud. Therefore, there is a key to obtaining merit together. Thus, represented by the virtue of rejoicing and applauding, and the virtue of acting or offering in this way, in the name of "we," all the roots of virtue accumulated in the three times are gathered together and dedicated to the Buddha Amitabha and the noble Avalokiteshvara, and so on, the ten directions.
