Thirsty and cold, hungry and with limbs numb, the five senses are filled with suffering and fear. Those who have not herded or fished and encountered danger, unable to express what happened, can only make moaning sounds. Even if the mother is loving and full of affection for the child, merely stuffing the breast into the child's mouth, making "ah ah oh oh" sounds, will not fulfill their needs. Thus it is said. Next is the suffering of aging: From "Vast Play:" Aging causes aging, youth passes, like trees struck by lightning. Aging makes one hunchbacked, like a decaying house, aging is like an enemy that cannot be defeated. Women and men are tormented by aging, like a red wind blowing through the sal trees. Aging steals one's diligence, ability, and strength, like a person sinking into the mud. Aging makes beauty ugly, and ugliness even uglier. Aging steals one's glory and power, aging steals one's happiness, and makes one despised. Aging brings death, aging also steals one's radiance. Thus it is said. Ugyen Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) said: Second, showing the suffering of aging: As years pass, the elements decay, gradually aging, the beautiful complexion disappears, and the ugly radiance also fades. The once upright body becomes bent, the tendons and blood vessels of the hands and feet become clearly visible. The strength of the body disappears, the courage of the heart also fades, merit is exhausted, and no one loves you. The beautiful youth declines, becoming nauseating, without the ability to torment, one can only accept punishment. Vision becomes blurred, the eyes cannot see clearly, the essence of the elements rots, the ears become deaf. The muscles atrophy, the cheeks sink, the blood-colored radiance disappears, the blood vessels twist, protrude, and holes appear. The once neat teeth fall out, speech becomes slurred, the hair turns white, and wrinkles grow on the face. The face is no longer as it was, wrinkles appear, the ribs protrude on the chest, and the neck becomes stiff. The legs and feet limp, sometimes thick and thin unevenly, the body looks as if it has been twisted. Because of the foul odor, people are unwilling to approach, feeling ashamed. Unable to stand steadily, the body feels heavy when sitting down, one can only groan and sigh.
