It is said that if one meditates for twelve years and cannot even cut off a single thought of vegetables, what is the use? Hearing this, one thought it was true and did not enter (meditation), but instead did other things, like such a story. Also, there are many who are said to be upright Shravaka practitioners who enter cessation and, even though their bodies wither, do not die, and later reappear in the teachings of Maitreya to listen to the Dharma. This is because they gather their minds inward and do not scatter outward, and no thoughts arise within them, like gaining a stable state in this way. Moreover, before the body withers, the eight consciousnesses have not ceased, and the breath is still flowing. It is said that even if the body withers and the breath stops, the consciousness remains in the center of the heart, maintaining a little moisture by the power of that samadhi. It is said that such examples can also be seen in the temple of the Great Elephant Mountain (uncertain) in China. To generate such Shamatha is the cessation of the Shravakas. Although it is difficult to generate such a state, it may be possible to generate similar parts, like not feeling where the sun has gone. If this happens, it is very beneficial for Vipassana. Also, some people, after receiving instructions, straighten their bodies, close their eyes, and listen, and as a result, their minds become unconscious. Even if others call in their ears, they cannot hear, and even if others move, they cannot get up, like a deep sleep. This is a dull Shamatha. Although this is a sign of having the habit of generating meditation, if one practices it for a long time, it will become a cause for rebirth as an animal, so one should splash water on the face to wake up. Also, some people, after receiving instructions, cry, laugh, jump, tremble, are not autonomous, and their minds are confused, remembering nothing. If this is an increase in the experience of empowerment and previous blessings, then it is a sign that the mind is joyful, the body feels pleasure and pain, and a genuine experience arises. As it says in the Madhyamakavatara: "If one hears of emptiness, and joy arises within, punaḥ punaḥ (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, again and again); tears of joy moisten the eyes, punaḥ punaḥ (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, again and again); the hairs of the body stand on end, punaḥ punaḥ (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, again and again); that body is fit to sow, punaḥ punaḥ (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, again and again); the seed of emptiness and bodhicitta, punaḥ punaḥ (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, again and again); and to him one speaks, punaḥ punaḥ (Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, again and again); the ultimate truth." This means that if someone hears about emptiness and great joy arises in their heart, tears of joy flow, and the hairs of their body stand on end, then their body is a fertile field for sowing the seed of emptiness and bodhicitta, and one can also speak the ultimate truth to them. However, there are also mistakes in this. Some people, although they jump, tremble, cry, and laugh like that, their minds are not at peace, and afterwards they have no interest in the Dharma, their minds are harsh, and the more people there are, the more excited they become.

is possessed by a spirit. There are many like that, and sometimes they perform. This is because a great spirit follows and blesses them. They should be expelled with a strong intention of dispelling obstacles. If you cannot distinguish between good and bad, invite the wrathful Guru or Vajrakilaya and do the visualization of absorption. If it becomes peaceful, it is a spirit, and if it does not become peaceful, it is an increase in the phenomenon of blessing. Even when the mind is peacefully abiding without fault and in one-pointedness, subtle thoughts arise within. The mind does not abide within either, but rather there arises an attachment that it abides pervading like the sky. From that attachment, the mind abides in the sphere of infinite space. The mind abides in the mind, and for that mind, there is no inside or outside, no edge or center, it is infinite. The mind abides in the single attachment that it is infinite, which is the sphere of infinite consciousness. The mind that abides in that way, for that mind, there is no form, color, or object. The mind abides in the single attachment that there is nothing, which is the sphere of nothingness. The mind abides in the mind, and that is neither existent nor non-existent. The mind abides in the single attachment that it is neither existent nor non-existent, which is the sphere of neither existence nor non-existence. It is good even if those arise for a moment. In the past, when the Bodhisattva Prince Siddhartha practiced austerities for six years, it seems that he was also meditating on those. For six years on the banks of the Nairanjana River, he practiced austerities, perfected his diligence, and I prostrate to the one who attained the supreme meditation. It is said. Since those are the best of worldly meditations, if you only meditate on those, you will see that it is the cause of being born in the formless realm at the peak of existence. Therefore, the Teacher abandoned those, ate milk and rice, and then relied on the vajra-like samadhi to become enlightened. Those are not born to those who do not accumulate merit and are not diligent, but even if similar ones arise, they can suppress afflictions, can abide in any object, are signs of accomplishment, and are the basis of transcendental qualities. After arising very extensively, signs of accomplishing contaminated direct perception also arise. These also arise in the context of one-pointedness on top of the understanding of insight. These must arise first. Without attachment or clinging to those, gradually
