By doing good, one will ultimately attain the state of an Arhat. After that, one will not take birth in this cycle of existence. Until that state is attained, one will take rebirth, being born as gods or humans, endowed with Dharma. This is the way of the Lesser Vehicle, only of middling scope. For the sake of all sentient beings attaining Buddhahood, even small acts of virtue become great. For three countless great kalpas, one will only take births as gods or humans, endowed with Dharma. If one occasionally takes the body of an animal, one will be able to teach the Dharma to animals of the same kind. One's flesh, blood, bones, and skin, whoever uses them will gradually be led to ultimately attain the unsurpassed, perfect Buddhahood. In the meantime, no matter how much immeasurable happiness one experiences, not even a small act of virtue will be exhausted. This is the power of generating the mind of enlightenment, dedication, and aspiration. Before the dedication is completed, if regret arises, or if one boasts to others, or if strong anger arises, the root of virtue will be exhausted. Once the dedication is completed, there will be no exhaustion. This is a song summarizing the divisions of the ten virtues. Written with joy on the fifth day of the red month of the Horse year, Monkey month, as the sky was clear. Homage to Shakyamuni! Killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct: for these four root transgressions, ten faults are taught for each. Sixty faults are taught for alcohol. Drinking alcohol leads to the ten non-virtuous actions. The ripening result of drinking alcohol is to be born in the Howling Hell, where one can only drink boiling bitter water. By the result similar to the cause, one will be born as a harmful yaksha or rakshasa who loves alcohol. By the dominating result, if one is born as a human, one will take five hundred births as a madman. The ripening result of abstaining from alcohol is that one will be born in a pure land. By the result similar to the cause, in all lifetimes, one will be able to practice Dharma and meditative equipoise. By the dominating result, in all lifetimes, one will be born with mindfulness and endowed with moral discipline. Whoever drinks alcohol, except for tsok wine, will experience these faults. Taking vows and then drinking alcohol results in a hundred thousand times the transgression. The amount of tsok wine should not exceed a drop placed on the tongue; this is the samaya. If one does not do this, the samaya of mantra is broken, and it is said that one will be born in the Blister Hell. If one is an ordinary person, it is good to abstain from alcohol. A monk drinking alcohol is an obstacle of Mara. Thus spoke the monk Raga Asya. Homage to the Great Compassionate One!

Alas! If one eats sacrificial meat, it is said that one will be reborn in a hell of great weeping and wailing. If one eats the sacrificial meat on that day, one will be reborn in the Avīci hell. If one makes medicinal meat for the benefit of the sick, that will be even more sinful. If sacrificial meat is made for the sake of peaceful and wrathful rituals and hundreds of gatherings, as well as for reciting scriptures, that livestock will be reborn in a good realm. The meat sacrificed for the sake of the deceased or the living will be reborn in hell. If the meat of the dead is mixed with the meat in the market, and it is eaten without arrogance, the sin is small. Meat is the co-operative result of eating, and one will be reborn as a fierce Rakshasa, subtle ghost, and evil spirit, becoming a harmful demon. If one eats meat, the dominant result is that one will be reborn many times as lions, tigers, leopards, wolves, as well as cats, foxes, and other beasts of prey. Meat that is not sacrificial meat, if made into feast meat, there is no sin, and that livestock will also be reborn in the heavens. The Vipāka result of abstaining from meat is that one will be reborn into the lineage of gods and Brahmins. The co-operative result will be the protection of gods and deities, and the dominant result is that white-sided deities will gather, and mantras will also be accomplished. However, if one abandons the samaya substances of the feast, one will be reborn in hell due to breaking the samaya, and one will be punished by the Ḍākinīs, so one should put a little on the tongue. Wine is different from meat, and the food of the feast, if one has samādhi, one can eat to one's fill. One also needs to have the conviction that it is nectar, and the samādhi of offering the body mandala is very important. That livestock is the parents of the previous life, and one should generate compassion for them, and bless the remaining meat and bones with the mantras of Kaṃka (Tibetan, Sanskrit kanka, Romanized Sanskrit kaṃka, literal Chinese meaning: vulture), lotus, and Uttiṣa (Tibetan, Sanskrit uttiṣa, Romanized Sanskrit uttīṣa, literal Chinese meaning: to fly up), and pray that the livestock will attain happiness. This easy-to-understand verse on the permission and prohibition of meat was spoken by the monk Rāga Asya. Homage to the Great Compassionate One! Noble Avalokiteśvara, please remember! Below the Untainted Ocean of Jambudvipa (Southern Continent), below twenty thousand yojanas, there is the world of Avīci Hell. Below that, in order, are the Eight Hot Hells, each of which is surrounded by sixteen neighboring hells. To the south of all these hells, there are sixteen black iron cities, and in the great iron city in the center, Yama, the King of Dharma, resides. All sentient beings who have done good deeds will see the peaceful Buddha as blue, with a crown on his head and wearing Dharma robes. Those who are accustomed to evil deeds
