Even if one commits the five heinous sins, even if one stays in hell for a short time, one will be liberated immediately. There are four powers for this, as follows: Regret for the sins committed before, like swallowing poison into the stomach. This is the power of repelling. In a place with the blessings of the Three Jewels, in a wonderful and excellent holy place, in front of the guru and in front of the mandala, confess in such a presence. If one cannot actually gather in such a place, face west and visualize in the mind the Pure Land of Sukhavati, Amitabha (Tibetan: འོད་དཔག་མེད་པ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अमिताभ, Sanskrit Romanization: Amitābha, Chinese literal meaning: Immeasurable Light) the main deity and the three attendants, appearing in front of you. Visualize clearly, steadily, and vividly like Mount Sumeru. Prostrate in front of that, and if you confess, it will be very profound. This is called the power of reliance. The power of antidote is the power of constant practice. Although all roots of virtue are antidotes, what is particularly profound is that for purifying the obscurations of the body, prostration and circumambulation are unparalleled. There are three types of prostration: outer, inner, and secret. Outer prostration is like that of ordained people, etc., each needing to wear proper attire. First, stand up straight, stretch your hands horizontally. Join the palms together and place them on the crown of your head. Touch your forehead, throat, and heart in order. The palms, forehead, five points of the knees and elbows touch the ground, this is the five-point prostration. When meeting a guru and a khenpo, hold their feet with both hands, and touch your forehead to their knees. This is the prostration of embracing from the ankles, which is not popular in Tibet nowadays. Untie your hair, take off your headdress, wear silk or bone ornaments on your body, chant loudly and prostrate, this is called inner prostration. In a place without ordinary people, in the mandala of Buddhas and gurus, prostrating naked is secret prostration, which is to make up for the breaking of vows. Wearing a cotton garment, holding your breath, lift your body into the air, and place your body face down on the ground. Place your hands left and right on the ground three times each, your feet left and right three times each, and knock your forehead on the ground three times. This is called full prostration, which is the tradition of acharyas and realized beings. This is the supreme method of purifying obscurations. If you are not skilled in breathing, it may cause your legs and feet to break, or edema may cause paralysis. If you regularly perform the five-limbed prostration, that is best.

The inner confession, the general confession, and the confession from the Golden Light Sutra, as well as the types of confessions such as the Naga confession. In particular, the recitation of the Hundred Syllable Mantra is profound. With the mind, confess the objects and agents of confession, in the state of non-objectification and emptiness. Thus, with body, speech, and mind, striving in the means of confession is the power of relying on the antidote. Thus, sins can be confessed, but if one still commits sins and transgressions, thinking that there is no fault in confessing, the confession will not be purified. Therefore, even if one's life is at stake in the future, one should not commit those sins and transgressions, and one should make a strong vow that one can definitely keep. This is called the power of restraint. Thus, if one confesses with the four powers complete, all sins will be purified. Like Angulimala, who killed a number of people, nine hundred ninety-nine kotis of nagas, Ajatashatru who killed his father, and Sundari who killed her mother, there are many historical accounts of the purification of sins through confession. Gyalwa Chökyi Wangchuk, during the great instruction of Mahamudra, said that all ordinary sentient beings are initially sinful and without virtue, in the middle they have virtue and sin, and in the end they have virtue and no sin. He was heard to say those words. What is meant by sinful and without virtue is those who have not entered the Dharma gate, and their destination is only the three lower realms. What is meant by virtuous and sinful is mostly those who have entered the Dharma gate. Even if the two hundred fifty-three Vinaya precepts and the four root downfalls are not violated, transgressions and misdeeds fall like rain. Even if one does not abandon the Bodhisattva's trainings and the desire to attain Buddhahood, one constantly commits many transgressions. Even after receiving the four secret mantra empowerments, even if one does not abandon the deity, mantra, and guru, the breaking of vows continues uninterrupted. With that pure root vow, one enters the ranks of the Buddha's teachings, and although the benefits and virtues are vast, the subtle transgressions and misdeeds cause one to be reborn as nagas and animals, and there are many causes for going to evil realms. Therefore, it is important to constantly confess. Even if small sins and transgressions occur, one should not despise them as harmless. Even a small amount of poison cuts the life force. Even an enemy who hates in this life can only kill once at most, but with the sin of killing once, one's own life is cut off in a number equal to one out of a thousand times. Even a great enemy who hates only burns once.
