Burned to cessation. The flesh is torn with red-hot iron hooks. Spears and other weapons blaze with fire, piercing from the anus and exiting from the crown of the head. Molten iron is poured from the crown of the head. The lifespan is half of an intermediate kalpa. In that extremely hot hell, the sentient beings born there are objects of compassion. The tutelary deity, the noble Avalokiteśvara, please look upon them with compassion. Especially those connected to me, I pray that you liberate them now. Om Mani Padme Hum (Tibetan: ༀ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओँ मणि पद्मे हूँ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, the jewel in the lotus, Hum). Those with wrong views, wrong dharma, and heretical groups, slander the Dharma as untrue, say that cause and effect, benefit and harm are untrue, say that the benefits of the Dharma are untrue, hate the teachers, Bodhisattvas, and other noble beings. On the vast ground of burning iron, unimaginable flames blaze. Their skin, flesh, and blood are burned all the way to the bones, like pillars of lamps. No matter where they flee, to the four directions, the flames will engulf them, burning them as before. Their bodies are all ablaze, red like fire, and only the sound of their cries is heard, their bodies invisible to others. In cauldrons of molten iron, They are scattered like popcorn on the glittering ground. They walk on the iron ground, climbing and descending the burning iron mountains. Molten copper is poured into their mouths, and their lungs, heart, and other internal organs flow out from their bodies. They are boiled in boiling bile water. Many burning weapons cut their bodies into pieces the size of mustard seeds. Beginning with the terrifying lion's head made of burning iron, they are devoured downwards, and tigers devour them upwards from behind. Two poisonous snakes devour their ribs. Starting from their feet, they are burned in the fire, pierced by the arrows of Yama, burned headfirst in the fire pit, iron stakes are driven into their holes, and their limbs are cut off with weapons. Their bodies are five hundred yojanas in size, and they have five hundred heads, each with five hundred tongues, each tongue five hundred yojanas long, plowed by five hundred red-hot iron plows. Their bodies are devoured by many creatures, and they must eat their own flesh, pounded with hammers in red-hot mortars, burning poisonous snakes coil around their bodies, and their burning intestines are all consumed. The suffering is continuous without interruption, therefore it is called Avīci (uninterrupted). These are the eight hot hells, and the lower hells are nine times more painful than the upper ones.
