This is offered upwards as a self-dedication. Please bestow blessings and realization without partiality! Thus, again and again remembering the father and son protectors, feeling sorrowful, he spoke. Ah Ragaso! The father, the supreme Buddha, said: Being sick, being sick is not like that, it is the broom of the yogi that cleanses obstacles. If you do not understand the meaning of what was said, then the sickness of ordinary people and the sickness of those who possess Dharma, the way that sickness and pain come, the rituals and treatments that are needed, and the need to care for the sick are the same, but the meaning is different, the difference is great. When ordinary people are sick, sons, sisters, relatives, etc., some call lamas and doctors, some slaughter livestock and hunt. Sons, wives, and daughters lift them up from the head and apply medicine and water. Some feed them a mouthful of food, some shed tears and cry. The patient himself thinks that when he is seriously ill, he is afraid of dying and suffering, and when he is healthy, he is afraid of running out of food and property. Towards the enemies that he cannot bear, he generates hatred, and to his sons, he leaves a will of enmity and litigation. To his daughters, wives, and loved ones, he does not abandon attachment and desire, and leaves a will not to suffer. Thus, with attachment and hatred intertwined, he plants the seeds of hell and hungry ghosts. After death, he falls into the realm of evil destinies. The virtuous deeds that are done afterwards are also mixed with sinful deeds such as slaughter, like food mixed with poison, there is a danger of both benefit and harm. If it is beneficial to the patient, then he spends his life in sin and suffering. He kills hunters and black-haired animals, steals oaths, and goes to be a robber, etc., countless sins, etc. Thus, the ordinary patient, after death, immediately experiences great suffering, and if he recovers, he accumulates immeasurable sins and suffering. No matter how he lives or dies, sickness cannot purify obscurations. Like a hailstorm of great hail, it is the early and late ripening of bad karma. Death cannot go to the pure land, like a stone thrown into the ocean, he falls into hell without liberation. When a Dharma practitioner is sick, it is called the end of sin, and by the blessing of practice, the sins and obscurations of many lifetimes that should have been born in the evil realms in the future, can be purified by this sickness alone. In the future, he will surely obtain eternal happiness. Not breaking the words of the Bhagavan Medicine Buddha, understanding the meaning of the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, this body is a mandala of the deity.

It is so. Therefore, for the benefit of the body, abstain from medicine and food, and abstain from sleep. Strive to practice beneficial diet and behavior. Without performing medicine and rituals, it is not appropriate to practice even if you know the Powa (transference of consciousness) method. If transferred, the sin of killing the gods will occur. If a hundred saints are killed, how can one go to the heavenly realms? Medicine and rituals, and death ransom, etc., even if done nine times, if it still worsens, then it is death when the time has come. After that, it is okay to practice the Powa method. If you really don't practice the Powa method, then keep the vows in the clear light. Because you know that conditioned phenomena are impermanent, there is no attachment to relatives and wealth. Because you know that the six realms of beings are all parents, there is no hatred or harsh words towards enemies. Because there is the practice of generation and completion stages, the heroes and dakinis will not cause trouble. In Sukhavati or the Pure Land of Khechara, clouds of various offerings will greet you. Ask the Buddhas for the Dharma, request empowerment from the Yidams, wear the clothes of the gods, and drink nectar. The companions of Bodhisattvas and consorts will be in the tens of millions. Emanations will guide sentient beings. If you don't die and revive, use the wealth of the rituals for the Dharma, without stinginess, and with a comfortable mind. Bad circumstances turn into aids for doing good. By visualizing the diseases and sufferings of the six realms of beings merging into the place of pain, you complete the accumulation of merit and purify immeasurable obscurations. By observing the nature of the sick person, experience and realization will increase rapidly. Through careful medicine and diet, all the gods of the body will be pleased by the offerings. In the entire life before death, keep the precepts and practice the generation and completion stages. It is better to practice Dharma for one day than to commit great sins for a hundred years. If a practitioner lives long, it is best to attain Buddhahood in one lifetime, moderately achieve the benefit of oneself and others, and at worst, secure one's own position. Considering these, countless longevity practices are taught in the tantras. Panchen Ngawang Drakpa also said that the subdued master of Dharma practice, as long as he exists in samsara, will continuously increase the accumulation of merit and so on. The meaning of what is said is also like that. So, in the Drukpa Kagyu and Chod lineages, medicine and rituals are not performed. What is the meaning of that? In the profound and unified essence of the Dharma, instead of treating diseases with medicine, by observing the nature of the disease, the pain of illness appears as the Dharmakaya.
