He composed verses of praise. He also gave a single piece of advice. He had them recite the name of the Buddha. There, she passed away and was reborn as a goddess of the Thirty-Three (Trayastriṃśa). Then, that goddess, with five hundred attendants, made offerings to the bones of the old woman, and the people of that place also saw it. When asked what it was, she told the story, and those goddesses, having requested the Dharma from Kātyāyana, each attained their respective fruits. 7. Also, in the past, after the Buddha Vipaśyin passed into Nirvana, many monks were being supported by householders. A poor couple had nothing to offer, so the man wept. The woman said, "Search the house and the storehouses, and offer whatever little there is." Upon searching, they found a single gold coin, which they placed in a vase, filled it with clean water, covered it with a mirror, and offered it. By the merit of this, the two were reborn as gods in the Thirty-Three (Trayastriṃśa). For ninety-one kalpas, wherever they were born, they became beautiful and pleasing to behold, turning golden in color. Their enjoyment became complete and abundant. Then, in Śrāvastī, a wealthy householder had a son with a golden complexion, and in the land of Campā, a daughter of the same kind was born. As soon as these two were born, a well appeared in their homes, and by drawing water from it, they would obtain jewels, food, clothing, and whatever they desired. The parents arranged a marriage for the two, and upon welcoming them, they invited the Blessed One, listened to the Dharma, and both renounced and attained Arhatship. The monk was named Golden God. Such was the merit of the poor person's slight generosity. 7. Also, in the past, during the time of the Buddha Vipaśyin, a householder offered a single gold coin, received three precepts, and abandoned killing and other such actions. For ninety-one kalpas, he became wealthy and long-lived. Later, in Śrāvastī, the son of a wealthy householder who had no children fell from his lap into the water and was swallowed by a large fish. That fish was caught by a fisherman from the lower city, and when he cut open the fish's belly, he found the child alive. He was then adopted as the son of a wealthy householder who had no children. The householder from the upper city heard this and said, "That is my son, he should be returned to me." The person from the lower city said, "I worshiped the gods, and the gods gave him to me, he came from the belly of the fish." Unable to reach an agreement, they appealed to the king, who said, "You two shall possess him jointly."

A wealthy man raised his son with abundant enjoyments, and when the son grew up, he said to his parents, "I must become a renunciate." The parents, who deeply cherished their son, refused. Later, he renounced in the presence of Shakyamuni Buddha and attained the state of an Arhat, becoming the second renunciate of noble lineage. Because he offered gold, he enjoyed great wealth in all his lifetimes. Because he abstained from killing, even when he fell into the water and was swallowed by a fish, he did not die. The Buddha said that it was because he had requested refuge and vows that he attained the state of an Arhat. 7. In the past, thirty-two people stole a bull and led it to the house of an old woman. The bull, knowing that it was going to be slaughtered, made the aspiration, "May you all be killed!" Then they slaughtered the bull and ate it with the old woman. Later, an old woman bought incense, mixed it with butter, and applied it to a stupa. Thirty-two people helped her do this, and they made the aspiration to be born as Brahmins in all their lifetimes, to be of noble lineage and wealthy. The fruits of virtue and vice ripened separately. They were born as they had aspired in all their lifetimes, but on one occasion, they were killed five hundred times by the reincarnation of the bull. Later, in Shravasti, the youngest of the seven sons of the minister Ridwog (Rīḍaka) of King Salgyal (Prasenajit) had a wise bride named Lha Tsham Ma (Devīlakṣmī), who was also cherished by the king. She laid thirty-two eggs, from which thirty-two sons with power and abilities hatched. Another minister slandered them, saying, "They are plotting to kill the king." The king sent powerful giants and had them killed all at once. Lha Tsham Ma became a Bhikshuni of the Bhagavan. The king was the reincarnation of the bull, the mother was the old woman, and the thirty-two sons were the thieves. The Buddha said that this is the result of killing one bull. 7. In the past, after the passing of Buddha Ösung (Kāśyapa), a householder built a stupa and a gathering hall for the Sangha, and provided sustenance for a long time. Later, these structures deteriorated and the sustenance ceased. The householder's son, who was a Bhikshu, restored the structures as before and made aspirations. Later, he was born as the great King Kapina in the southern land of Gold (Suvarṇabhūmi), and the items he had given caused him to be born as the retinue of eighty thousand minor Chakravartin kings, becoming very powerful and becoming the king of the central region.
