To all those protectors who, without attachment or abiding, have attained the supreme Nirvana but have not turned the wheel of Dharma, and who dwell beneath the Bodhi tree, I, for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, kneel before them, join my palms, and urge them to turn the unsurpassed wheel of Dharma. The sixth limb is the request to remain: In whatever realms of the ten directions, all those Buddhas who wish to demonstrate Nirvana, for the sake of benefiting and bringing immeasurable happiness to all sentient beings, for the sake of temporary and ultimate benefit and happiness, I urge them to remain, as many as the dust motes in the Buddha-fields of the three times. I prostrate my body, join my palms, and earnestly pray from the depths of my heart. The seventh limb is dedication: Thus, the merit of prostrating with the three doors, the merit of offering to the Buddhas and their heirs with real and imagined offerings, the merit of confessing all sins of this and previous lives, the merit of rejoicing in all the merit of the noble ones, the merit of urging the turning of the wheel of Dharma, and the merit of requesting not to pass into Nirvana, and so forth. In short, whatever merit I have accumulated from beginningless time until now, even if it is giving a mouthful of food to an animal, or a single prostration, or a single circumambulation, or even a small virtue, I dedicate all of it for the sake of all sentient beings, for the sake of attaining unsurpassed enlightenment. Thus, the accumulation of the seven-limbed practice. Then, to attain the temporary Brahma, the god Brahma, and the ultimate Brahma, the Buddha Bhagavan, one meditates on the four abodes of Brahma, the four immeasurables. As it is said in the Tantra of the Profound Lotus: "Through love, compassion, joy, and equanimity, destroy the enemies of afflictions and wrong views." And as it is said in the Extensive Ritual of the Nine Deities of Gyalwa Gyatso: "First, for the sake of taking care of sentient beings with great compassion, meditate on love, compassion, joy, and equanimity." And as it is said in the Ritual of the Self-Arisen Nine Deities: "Then, to all sentient beings, meditate on love, compassion, joy, and equanimity, the four abodes of Brahma."

"After meditating." And in the Vajra Tent Tantra, it says, "The abode of Brahma, with these four, the mind is refreshed." Thus it is said. The order of meditation is also that first, by meditating on loving-kindness, it is easy to generate compassion. If compassion arises, then joy arises for the happiness of sentient beings. Because all sentient beings are known as parents, there is no partiality towards all happiness and joy, so equanimity arises spontaneously. Therefore, in the Two Examinations Tantra, it says, "First, loving-kindness should be meditated upon. Second, all compassions should be meditated upon. Third, joy should be meditated upon. The end of all is equanimity." Thus it is said. The three types of compassion are: compassion focused on sentient beings, which is the desire for sentient beings to be liberated from suffering; compassion focused on the Dharma, which is seeing all beings as appearing like reflections of the moon in water, without inherent existence, and spontaneously generating compassion for those who do not realize this; and compassion without focus, which is the clear appearance of compassion in a state where the nature of the meditator, the object of meditation, and the object of meditation are not established. These are the methods of meditation according to the Sutra system. Loving-kindness, which desires all sentient beings to obtain the cause and effect of happiness, and compassion, which desires all sentient beings to be separated from the cause and effect of suffering and to be protected from suffering, are primarily compassion focused on sentient beings. Joy, which desires to be separated from the cause of not being separated from happiness and to encounter purity, and equanimity, which desires all sentient beings to be joined with the Dharma nature of equality. The method of meditation is sufficient with the words of the text itself. There are two methods of meditating on the immeasurable according to the Tantra system: From the seed syllable in the heart of oneself, blue rays of light radiate, placing all sentient beings in immeasurable loving-kindness. Similarly, with white rays of light, place them in immeasurable compassion. With red rays of light, place them in immeasurable joy. With various rays of light, meditate on placing them in immeasurable equanimity. Or, by the hook-mother or the assembly of Vajra Dakinis radiating light, place all sentient beings in immeasurable loving-kindness. By the noose-mother or the assembly of Jewel Dakinis radiating light, place them in immeasurable compassion. By the chain-mother or the assembly of Lotus Dakinis radiating light equal to the number of all sentient beings, place all sentient beings in immeasurable joy. By the bell-mother or the immeasurable Karma Dakinis radiating light, meditate on placing all sentient beings in immeasurable equanimity.
