In the practice manual, it says, "By reciting from Om Svabhava (藏文:ཨོཾ་སྭ་བྷ་ཝ,梵文天城体:ओं स्वभाव,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ svabhāva,汉语字面意思:嗡,自性) to Hum (藏文:ཧཾ,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), one contemplates that all phenomena encompassed by appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana are emptiness." Also, in the Nine Self-Arisen Deities, it says, "By Om Svabhava (藏文:ཨོཾ་སྭ་བྷ་ཝ,梵文天城体:ओं स्वभाव,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ svabhāva,汉语字面意思:嗡,自性) and so on, with the syllable Hum (藏文:ཧཾ,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), one meditates on all phenomena as emptiness, which is the preliminary." Also, in the manual of the Five Precious Self-Arisen Vajra Deities, it says, "Then, from Om Svabhava (藏文:ཨོཾ་སྭ་བྷ་ཝ,梵文天城体:ओं स्वभाव,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ svabhāva,汉语字面意思:嗡,自性) to Hum (藏文:ཧཾ,梵文天城体:हं,梵文罗马拟音:haṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). Gathering all of these together, one should meditate on all phenomena as emptiness. This is the gathering of wisdom." It is said that the meaning here is that there are two methods of meditating on emptiness: one by dismantling emptiness, and the other by forced meditation. Meditating by dismantling involves establishing emptiness through reasoning by way of one-ness, as extensively explained in the Madhyamaka treatises. For this, one should recite Śūnyatā (梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音:śūnyatā) after meditating on emptiness. This, however, is to equalize its meaning with emptiness merely by reciting the mantra, which is forced meditation. Moreover, in India, within the Mantrayana, there are those who abide in Madhyamaka and those who abide in Cittamatra. Shantipa (Śāntipa) composed commentaries on tantras such as the Two Examinations, Guhyasamaja, and Mayajala, solely in the manner of Vijnanavada. Most Tibetan and Indian teachers meditate on the emptiness of mantra according to the Madhyamaka system of Nagarjuna. The Sakyas assert that the tantric sections do not teach a method of meditating on emptiness different from that of the Paramitayana. However, Je Mikyo Dorje and other Kagyu Rinpoches distinguished between the profound Madhyamaka of the Sutras and the profound and clear Madhyamaka of the Mantras, and explained them. The profound and clear Madhyamaka of the Mantras is Mahamudra. It is said that this surpasses the ignorance produced by the three great ones (ཆེན་པོ་གསུམ) and becomes luminosity, which is a term in the tradition of Sarahapa. In the Secret Inconceivable Tantra, it says: "All phenomena of appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana, acting in their own way, before the deluded minds of beings, the views and practices of existence and non-existence are the deluded minds of heretics, those who grasp at reality are of the inferior Shravaka lineage, those who grasp at duality cannot attain self-arisen wisdom, those who cling to truth, falsehood, and mind-only are bound, acknowledging illusion, Madhyamaka does not abandon faults, the Prasangikas who do not acknowledge are sophists, clinging to gods is the view of demons, clearly appearing."
