The seven, namely, Sudarsana, Durjaya, Uttamāṅga, Balottara, Anīghaputra, etc., the former multiplied by ten is the power of the latter. Some say that ten times the power of Balottara is half the power of Anīghaputra, and multiplying these two is the power of Anīghaputra. The teacher believes that for the Vaibhāṣikas, the greater the power of the body, the better, otherwise, the infinite power of wisdom will be unbearable. Furthermore, the corpse of the elephant killed by Devadatta could not be kicked away from the seven walls and moats with the toe. The nature of such bodily power is the sense-sphere of touch, which is only a difference of the great elements, and not transformed from the great elements. Some say that this power is not a great element, but an eighth touch that is caused by something other than the seven touches of the fruit previously mentioned, such as softness. (It seems to favor roughness.)

Furthermore, omniscience is like the first power, which is the ten kinds of wisdom that understand the power of knowing what is possible and impossible, and is encompassed by all the grounds. This first fearlessness is also like that. Promising that one's own defilements are exhausted is like knowing that all obscurations have been abandoned. Like the tenth power, which is knowing that defilements are exhausted (including the cessation knowledge and its similar parts), it is encompassed by six or ten kinds of wisdom and eleven grounds. This second fearlessness is also like that. What is shown as an obstructing dharma is like knowing that afflictive demons and so on obstruct the path. Like the second power, which is knowing karma (this karma is the accumulation of suffering), it should be held as eight kinds of wisdom (excluding the knowledge of the path of cessation) and encompassed by all the grounds. This third fearlessness is also like that, because it is only encompassed by the first two truths and becomes an obstruction. What is shown as the definite path of liberation is like knowing the path of the Hearers and so on. Like the seventh power, which is knowing the path that goes everywhere, it is encompassed by ten or nine kinds of wisdom and all the grounds. This fourth fearlessness is also like that, because if one takes the contaminated and uncontaminated paths and their results, then it is ten, and if one takes the path without results, then it is nine. The Vaibhashikas think that only wisdom is fearlessness, but the teachers think that fearlessness is not being afraid, so it is not wisdom itself, but the result of wisdom, because fearlessness arises from relying on wisdom, so the name of the result is applied to the cause, like calling a swelling a foot disease. This meaning is also stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "To the wise one for the sake of oneself and others, to the one who makes obstacles to abandonment and liberation, to the one who shows the way, the other heretics, I bow to you, the shepherd." (Power is not being overcome by others, while fearlessness is overcoming others in return.)

Wishing to benefit. Because of having great compassion, he teaches the Shravakas, saying, 'This benefits you, this brings you happiness, this benefits and brings happiness to you.' Those Shravakas listen to him, pay attention, bring their all-knowing minds close, practice the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma, and do not contradict the teachings of the teacher. In this way, the Tathagata will also be very pleased, his mind will be at ease, and his heart will be joyful. The Tathagata abides in equanimity with mindfulness and awareness. This is the first mindfulness that should be taught to the Sangha, that those who rely on the noble ones, if the noble ones rely on them. Similarly, when the teacher teaches the Dharma, if those Shravakas do not listen to him, and even contradict the teachings of the teacher, then the Tathagata will not be pleased, his mind will not be at ease, his heart will not be joyful, and he will not feel any distress, impatience, or displeasure. The Tathagata abides in equanimity with mindfulness and awareness. This is the second mindfulness. Similarly, some Shravakas listen to him and do not contradict the teachings of the teacher, while others do not listen to him and contradict the teachings of the teacher. But in this way, the Tathagata is neither pleased nor displeased, but abides in equanimity with mindfulness and awareness. This is the third mindfulness.' Thus, through the differences of the Sangha listening respectfully, not listening, and both, three are spoken of. These three are the nature of mindfulness and awareness, or wisdom. The aspect of wisdom is conventional knowledge. So, for those Shravakas who have abandoned afflictions, there is no attachment or aversion to the Sangha listening respectfully, not listening, or both. Why is it said that they are not mixed with the Buddhas? Because the Shravakas have not abandoned the habitual tendencies of attachment and aversion, but the Buddhas have abandoned them. In this context, habitual tendencies are like the son of a king and the offspring of a prostitute. They are the cause and ability for the transformations of body and speech that arise from the Shravakas' previous engagement with afflictions.
