Emanations also speak along with the emanation maker. As it says in the Long Text: When one speaks, all the emanations speak. When one does not speak, all of them do not speak. Therefore, the Buddha's emanations arise entirely from intention, so there is no certainty as to how they speak earlier or later. In the Karma Division it says: Why does the emanation of the Blessed One Buddha, which is endowed with the thirty-two major marks of a great person, not speak when the Blessed One Buddha speaks, and when the emanation speaks, the Buddha does not speak? And why does the emanation of a Hearer, which has the appearance of a Hearer, speak when the Hearer speaks, and when the Hearer does not speak, the emanation also does not speak? Because the Blessed One Buddha has mastered mind and samadhi, quickly enters and arises from equipoise, and does not abandon the object of focus, but Hearers are not like that. Furthermore, the Blessed One Buddha is omniscient, having gone beyond wisdom and power, but Hearers are not like that. Therefore. Regarding this, if many speaking languages are emanated, then sound will also become an emanation, which contradicts the statement of the four external sense bases. But if there is only one language, then it is unreasonable to speak many. If it seems that many are spoken, but there is only one language, then the same applies to the four external sense bases. Therefore, the Vaibhashikas say that because there are no newly born sentient beings, the five faculties are not emanated, and because sound is impermanent, it is not emanated. If these emanations are not just appearances of the mind, but are actually existing dharmas, then how are they emanated? If they do not exist, then new and impermanent things will also appear to consciousness, and this should be examined. Then, since two minds do not arise simultaneously in one continuum, when there is a mind of speaking, there is no mind of emanation, and when there is a mind of emanation, there is no mind of speaking, how does the emanation speak? First, at the time of application, the mind of emanation emanates the emanation, and then prays that this emanation of mine may remain for a long time, and then the mind of speaking speaks.

Having blessed in this order, just as it was blessed, afterwards, there is no fault in allowing the mind of speech to speak other than the mind of emanation. Is it only the living who have blessings? Or do the dead also have them? (Emanations) Even the dead are blessed and can remain for a long time. In the miscellaneous Vinaya texts, it says: After the Teacher passed away, the venerable Ānanda and Upāli compiled the Sutras and Vinaya. Then, the venerable Mahākāśyapa compiled the Abhidharma Pitaka, saying: "How wonderful! The words of the one with the ten powers are immeasurable. For the benefit of beings, this treatise of Dharma has been compiled. Wherever the darkness of evil intelligence wastes the world, it is rightly endowed with a lamp, dispelling the dimness of wisdom." Thinking to himself, "Although I cannot repay all the kindness of the Teacher, if I compile the three pitakas, the teachings will remain for a long time." Thus, he accomplished the words of the Teacher and made the teachings remain for a long time, benefiting the world and practicing celibacy for a long time. Therefore, this festering body felt weary, and he thought, "The time for my nirvana has come." "My Sutras of the Sage, having been correctly compiled, establish the path of Dharma. From one to another, for a long time, may the sacred teachings of the Teacher remain. Those without shame are cut off by severance, while those with shame are completely embraced. Because I have done benefit and good, the time for my nirvana has come." Having said this, he entrusted the teachings to Ānanda and went to the eight stupas of the Teacher's relics to make offerings. He also went to the realm of the nāgas and the Thirty-Three to make offerings to the Teacher's tooth. Then, he returned to Rājagṛha, and when he wanted to speak of nirvana to King Ajātaśatru, the king was asleep, and he did not meet him. Then, Mahākāśyapa went to Kukkuṭapāda Mountain and sat with his roots planted in the middle of the three mountains, thinking, "In order to make the disciples of the Buddha Maitreya weary of my body, until the teachings of Maitreya flourish, may the mountains close and may I remain undiminished in the middle of the mountains. When King Ajātaśatru comes to see the body, may the mountains open and allow him to see." As soon as he relinquished the aggregates of life, the earth shook.
