Because of the retinue and followers and weak power, it is relied upon by small virtues, therefore it is defiled. Greatness is because the three, such as non-attachment, will not arise if they do not exist with each other, therefore they are in accordance with the three roots, and it is to be accomplished by a large group (the earth is precious), and what is called attainment and reliance is that the accumulated virtue is obtained, therefore the accumulated virtue has the future of obtaining something similar to it, and the retinue of consciousness is the three, such as feeling, and the form aggregate, together with the form aggregate that is gathered by the discipline of stainless concentration, therefore it follows the four aggregates, and even with one Dharma-knowing forbearance towards suffering, the ten subtle latent tendencies to be abandoned by the path of seeing are completely destroyed, therefore in order they are the root and preciousness and retinue and followers and great power, so they are relied upon by great virtues, therefore they are virtuous. Agitation and non-agitation are, in order, in accordance with agitation and are its antidote, therefore they are defiled and virtuous. Non-pacified and pacified are also the same as this. Non-equanimity and equanimity are, in order, in accordance with distraction and are its antidote, therefore they are defiled and virtuous. Uncultivated is obtaining from what was not previously obtained, and for the reliance of the manifestation of what has already been obtained, because it is uncultivated, therefore it is defiled. Cultivation is because it is cultivated by those two, therefore it is virtuous. Unliberated is in accordance with afflictions, and does not arise in the continuum where afflictions have ceased, therefore in order, those who are liberated by nature and continuum are unliberated, therefore it is defiled, liberation is not in accordance with afflictions, and arises in the continuum where afflictions have ceased, therefore in order, those who are liberated by nature and continuum are liberated, therefore it is virtuous, so it is thought. If the teacher does so, it is inconsistent with the sutra, and does not distinguish the differences of each, to this, first the sutra says: How is the mind completely gathered inward? The mind is together with dullness and sleep, and together with complete cessation in the mind, and is not in accordance with higher vision. How is it scattered outward?

The mind is distracted by the five qualities it desires, and it is scattered. Therefore, it is said that complete absorption is the same as sleep, because both are said to be afflictions. If the scriptures say: the mind is completely absorbed, truly knowing, and even knowing the path. Is this contradictory? Because it is not spoken by the Buddha, it is contradictory to the scriptures, and it is unreasonable to abandon the easy-to-understand meaning of the scriptures. The reason why the differences of each are not explained separately is that the eight, namely distraction, depression, smallness, agitation, non-peace, inequality, non-cultivation, and non-liberation, are all afflictions. The eight, namely complete absorption, good grasping, vastness, non-agitation, peace, equality, cultivation, and liberation, are only said to be virtuous, so the differences in their respective natures are not explained separately. The Vaibhashikas say that although these are the same in afflictions and virtues, it is not established that the characteristics of each are not explained because the differences between the faults and merits of each have already been explained. Although it is said so, there is still the fault of contradicting the sutras. Therefore, the meaning of the sutra should be understood as: the mind that is in accordance with and not in accordance with desire is, in order, with desire and without desire, and so on. It is explained that six, twelve, and four are said in order, without practicing meditation, without obtaining practice, and assuming that practice has been obtained. Furthermore, knowing by other-minds that this mind is with desire, but not knowing that this form is with desire, that is, not knowing the object of this mind. If one knows, because one is focused on form, it will become not other-minds. Moreover, if the other's mind is focused on one's own mind, it will also grasp the nature of one's own mind. Therefore, all other-minds are in accordance with the objects of defilement and non-defilement, and grasp their own characteristics, and they also occur in the present, are included in the continuum of others, are included in the samadhi of the ground, and are to be accomplished by relying on form, so it is the support.
