The Vaibhashikas hold that one should focus on oneself. The Sutrantikas and others hold that, since they assert self-awareness, one should also know that one's own aggregates are without self. The Mahayana schools hold that even through meditation-born wisdom, one knows that all phenomena are without self, and we also hold that one can instantly be free from desire. Therefore, one should also measure this.

Is. On the path of subsequent knowledge, if one is not separated from attachment, then one possesses those seven. If one is separated from attachment, then there are eight, it is said that one possesses those and knowledge of others' minds. Similarly, if one abides on the path of meditation and is attached, then apart from knowing others' minds and knowing exhaustion and non-arising, there are seven; if one is detached, then adding knowledge of others' minds, one possesses eight. One who abides on the path of no more learning, if one is liberated by wisdom, then apart from knowing others' minds, there are nine; if one is liberated from both parts, then one possesses ten, it should be known. Eighth, then in what situation does one obtain how much knowledge? On the path of seeing, how the eight tolerances and seven knowledges arise, those of the same kind will be obtained in the future. For example, from the arising of the tolerance of the knowledge of phenomena in suffering, whatever arises depending on what, that can be obtained in the present and future, but relying on another ground, only the future can be obtained. Moreover, those are of the nature of non-arising, not of the nature of arising, because it is absurd to have arisen many times on the path of seeing. In the commentary it says: On the path of seeing, whatever tolerance or knowledge arises, only the four aspects of the same kind will be obtained in the future. The four aspects that appear are the four mindfulnesses, because the aspects are explained in the four mindfulnesses. However, the Ṭīkā says that how they arise and are obtained means that whatever arises is obtained. For example, if the tolerance of the knowledge of phenomena in suffering arises, then only the future tolerance that is the same as it will be obtained. The so-called four aspects are the aspects of tolerance, such as impermanence and so on, because of equal share, and not others. Similarly, if the knowledge of phenomena in suffering arises, then that itself will be obtained in the future, and only its four aspects (such as impermanence and so on) will be obtained. Similarly, it should be applied to the tolerance of subsequent knowledge of suffering and so on, that is, with whichever truth is knowledge-tolerance, only the aspects of that truth, such as impermanence and so on, will be obtained. Moreover, since the tolerances and knowledges have not obtained the cause of equal share, only what is the same as them will be obtained.

The objects of the four aspects are all true and the same, so it is said that the types of all four aspects can be obtained. On the path of meditation, because one can directly perceive the similar and dissimilar types of wisdom, as well as their various aspects, one can obtain the cause of everything, and therefore one will obtain the future aspects that are superior to the path of seeing. So, can't dissimilar types be obtained on the path of seeing? On the path of seeing itself, for the three, suffering, origin, and cessation, because of the subsequent knowledge, one can also obtain the conventional wisdom that was not previously obtained, so dissimilar types can also be obtained. But the dharma knowledge of these three cannot be obtained, because one has not known the suffering of the upper two realms, has not abandoned the origin, and has not realized the cessation, so one has not realized the exhaustion of the truth. After realizing the exhaustion of each of the three truths, because one obtains that, that conventional wisdom is called arising from the edge of direct perception. For this, it should also be known that for the subsequent knowledge of suffering, origin, and cessation, one obtains the subsequent knowledge that focuses on those three truths in order. The subsequent knowledge on the path cannot obtain conventional wisdom, because the worldly path previously realized the first three truths, but conventional wisdom can never realize the path truth. Although this arises from the edge of the exhaustion of truth direct perception, the path cannot exhaustively cultivate, because the types of the three paths of hearers, self-realized Buddhas, and Buddhas are numerous, and each of those paths has small, medium, and other differences, so it is boundless, (if one cultivates any one, one can obtain any kind of inference), so it is impossible for one person to cultivate those (at the same time). The so-called direct perception is that from knowing suffering to cultivating the path, each has done its own work. So, for the origin, subsequent knowledge cannot be obtained either, because one has not abandoned all origins? Because one has abandoned all the origins to be abandoned by seeing, one can obtain it. Because the types of paths are numerous, one cannot cultivate all the antidotes to be abandoned by seeing, so one cannot obtain it. Some say that the conventional wisdom arising from the edge of direct perception is a retinue of the path of seeing
