It is. (Those who have happiness but do not have mental happiness are the children of the third dhyana.) Among them, those who have happiness but do not have a body are the noble non-returners and arhats who have attained the uncontaminated happiness included in the third dhyana (and are born in the formless realm), because they are born in the formless realm. Those who have the root of the body are those who practice in the desire realm and the form realm, and they also have the three mentioned earlier and the four, including the body root. Those who have the root of the body but do not have eyes, etc., are those who have not obtained the eye root or have lost the eye root, etc., in the desire realm. The ear, nose, and tongue roots, which are included in the word "etc." with the eye, those who have these roots must have (each and the four mentioned earlier) five, that is, each and the four mentioned earlier, such as the body. Those who have the root of mental happiness also (for children under two) have five, namely equanimity, life, mind, happiness, and mental happiness itself. (Among them, happiness is born in the realm of the five root consciousnesses in the desire realm, the first is of the three, and the third is the mental happiness born in the realm of consciousness.) If it is said that in the second dhyana (for children) there is mental happiness, but there is no happiness, because the happiness of the body is the realm below the first dhyana, (because the realm has changed) so it has been abandoned, and the mental happiness is the realm of the third dhyana, so it has not been obtained, then, those who have obtained the afflictions of the third dhyana are also there, (if they have not abandoned the afflictions of the upper realm, this is the tenet.) Those who have the root of suffering (are those in the desire realm, that is, they) must have seven, namely body, life, mind, happiness, mental happiness, equanimity, and suffering itself. Those who do not have displeasure are (even if they are in the desire realm,) those who are free from desire from desire do not have it, and other feelings (also for those who are free from desire in the desire realm) have it according to the attainment of virtue or affliction. Those who have the female root must have eight, namely the seven mentioned earlier, such as suffering, and themselves. The word "etc." includes the male root and displeasure, as well as the five such as faith, among which the male root

Discomfort and displeasure are the previously mentioned ones and oneself, making eight in total. (For all beings in the three realms who have not severed their roots of virtue.) The five, such as faith, possess equanimity, life, mind, and those. (Among them, male, female, and displeasure are also included.) Those who possess the power of complete knowledge (the meditators on the path of cultivation) certainly possess oneself, pleasure, joy, equanimity, life, mind, and the five such as faith, i.e., eleven powers. Similarly, those who possess the power of complete knowledge (the non-learners) are the same, certainly possessing the previous ten and oneself, making eleven in total. (Since some of these are formless realms, it is not universally true that they possess a body.) If the noble ones who possess the power of complete knowledge, such as non-returners and stream-enterers, can possibly attain it in all three realms, and if it is reasonable to assume that they possess eleven in the third dhyana and below, then how do those noble learners who are born in the fourth dhyana and the formless realms, who possess the power of complete knowledge, possess the powers of pleasure and joy? Because they do not exist in their own realms, and the virtuous qualities belonging to dhyana are abandoned by those who decline after the realms have shifted. It is said that the two lower ones are abandoned due to the shift in realms. If asked in this way, although they do not possess them because they have abandoned the contaminated pleasure and joy, they do possess the uncontaminated two. Thus, when noble ones are free from desire from the desire realm, they certainly attain the power of joy of the first dhyana, and when they are free from desire from the second dhyana, they attain the power of pleasure of the third dhyana. And those are not abandoned by the shift in realms. Thus, the shift in realms abandons the contaminated, but it is not said that it abandons the uncontaminated. Although it is said that the uncontaminated is lost by the noble ones from the attainment of the fruit, practice, and decline, even when attaining the fruit and practicing the powers, the uncontaminated included in the path of stream-entry and the path of dull faculties is abandoned, but the joy of the first and second dhyanas and the power of pleasure of the third dhyana, included in the path of the fruit and sharp faculties, will produce the attainment of the uncontaminated, because in order to be free from desire from where, from where one attains, there one will also attain the lower ones. Because such a situation will arise. Therefore, the pleasure of the noble ones born in the fourth dhyana and the formless realms
