Just as the shape of a conch shell can generate the consciousness of many people. Know that one can generate one, and many can also generate many. Similarly, sound should also be understood in this way. As for the last three realms, since they are apprehended after encountering the root, it is impossible for one realm to generate multiple consciousnesses. Because the realm that encounters one (is obstructed), it will not encounter other roots, and if it does not encounter, it will not generate its consciousness. Regarding the body consciousness generated by touch, some say that at most it is generated by any one of the four elements and softness, etc., among the five. (Considering that when bending over, etc., multiple parts of the body are apprehending.) Others say that it is generated by all eleven. One generating one and many generating one are possible, because the root that encounters one and the root that encounters many will generate one consciousness that apprehends them. Many generating many is easy to understand. (If that were the case, the five sense consciousnesses would become conceptual, because they arise from the collection from blue, yellow, etc., up to the eleven touches. Just like conceptual consciousness. If it is said that arising from the general characteristic of the birth place would become conceptual, then arising from the general characteristic of matter would not become conceptual, because even though it arises from the general characteristic of the existent, it is also arising from the self-characteristic of the birth place. Therefore, the commentary says: These are considered to be the objects of the self-characteristic of the birth place, but not the characteristic of the self-object, so there is no fault. And the Compendium of Valid Cognition also says: Because multiple meanings are not generated there. The object of the self-meaning general characteristic, the dharma possessing multiple entities, is impossible to realize from the root. It has been said like this.) Similarly, (the third branch) the way the root generates consciousness is also, know that (the four roots) have the whole generating consciousness, and there is also one part generating. Some say: It is impossible for the body root to generate consciousness as a whole, because when it encounters and generates consciousness, it is impossible for the entire body to encounter touch. For example, the entire body of the burning sentient beings in hell does not

It is said that if it comes into contact with fire, the body will be destroyed. Others say that because of the power of karma, the body is sustained, so it will not be destroyed. It is uncertain which consciousness arises first when grasping an object without contact. When grasping after contact, it should be understood that whichever object has a greater component arises first. (Fourth, when the tongue and body both come into contact with an object, analyzing which consciousness arises first:) So, if the faculties of the body and tongue come into contact with an object simultaneously, which consciousness arises first? If the object has more or less components, then whichever object has more components arises first. If the objects are the same, then the consciousness of the tongue arises first, because wanting to eat (immediately after that, it opens through conditions) is due to the continuity. Now is the third, explaining non-revealing form, divided into two, the first (also divided into three, namely definition): It refers to a mind distracted from the motivating thought, (which distinguishes it from revealing form,) and the absence of mind, namely the two states of non-perception and cessation. (This distinguishes it from mind and mental factors.) Also, the state of being undistracted and with mind, which is included by the word "also", that is, at the time of one's own motivating thought (continuously until there is no letting go), it also arises, and it is certain that its nature is either virtuous or non-virtuous. (There is no neutral, this is its definition.) Always continuous (and there is so much in the continuous attainment, therefore, in order to distinguish it from this, the cause of arising, relying, existing, and increasing.) The form that has the four great elements as its cause is called non-revealing form. So, does non-revealing form exist in the accompanying state of no-mind? In general, according to the Yogacara school, in the explanation of the "Thirty Verses" it says: The arising of consciousness is: Always with non-perception, the two samadhis, and except for mindless sleep and fainting. (Non-perception has defiled mind and alaya consciousness with cause and effect, and for cessation samadhi,) Although there is alaya consciousness, there is no consciousness, therefore it speaks of five states of no-mind. In the Compendium of Topics, it speaks of these five.
