The earth's wind arises, and its root location is the throat. At that time, the upper body slightly expands, like the upper body of a lion. In the fifth month, the pervasive wind arises from the upward-moving channel, and its root location is the joints. At that time, it has the appearance of a dwarf. In the sixth month, the wind flowing in the eyes is produced by dragons and water. In the seventh month, the wind flowing in the ears is produced by turtles and aquatic creatures. In the eighth month, the wind flowing in the nose is produced by cicadas and fire. In the ninth month, the wind flowing on the tongue is produced by Lhasbyin and wind. In the tenth month, the wind flowing in the body is produced by the victor of the bow and arrow, and the pores of space. Furthermore, in the Vajra Garland Tantra, it says: "This is the great wind element, the youth of the three consciousnesses." And also, in the Five Stages, it says: "That which becomes the life of all sentient beings, called wind, performs all actions. This is the mount of consciousness, the nature of five and also ten." And, "Whenever there is appearance, it is the mount of wind. At that time, all those natures, all appear without exception. Wherever the wind abides, it follows that nature." Thus, it is said that wind is the mount of all consciousness, especially the three consciousnesses of appearance and all conceptual thoughts. In the Vajra Garland, it says: "The self-life that has become the essence, there is nothing else in the three realms. The illusory wind is the three realms, seen like dreaming in a dream." Thus, it is said that other than wind, there is no other subtle body in the three realms, and wind creates the bodies of sentient beings. Again, in the Vajra Garland, it says: "Birth and abiding and destruction, and abiding in the intermediate existence, as long as the world is examined, are all delusions of the wind of mind." Thus, it is said that the birth, aging, sickness, and death of beings, and the intermediate state, are all merely delusions of wind and mind. In the Prophecy of Intent, it also says: "Those with consciousness and without consciousness, these beings that are designated, all arise from wind, and again cease from wind." Thus, it is said that the birth and death of sentient beings are also caused by wind. Furthermore, the main wind is the life-sustaining wind, and that wind

Although it is a cause of cyclic existence, it is not the root of cyclic existence. As the "Clear Lamp" says: Wind is not shown as the root of cyclic existence. Therefore, it is said in the scriptures that wind generates cyclic existence, it should be understood as a contributing factor, along with afflictions such as self-grasping, that generates cyclic existence. Because the root of cyclic existence, as stated in the Sutra Pitaka, is definitely self-grasping. Each of the winds has its own function. As it says in the "Explanatory Tantra Vajra Garland": "The continuous function of the sense doors is: life and effort and movement, moving at all times, is said to be the life-wind." And: "Urine, wind, and external excrement, likewise semen and so on, the downward-moving downward-clearing, should always be known by the yogi." And: "Vomiting, eating, chewing, and all drinking and holding, the navel, food and drink, etc., for equally guiding, is the equal-dwelling." And: "Going upwards and gathering, eating and tasting, etc., consuming, knowing and arriving together, should be known as the action of the upward-going. Pervading and holding oneself, going and likewise returning, pervading all the joints, is said to be the pervasive." Because it acts as it says. Therefore, the life-sustaining wind prolongs life. The limb winds perform the function of arising and entering at the sense doors. The downward-clearing wind performs the function of guiding feces, urine, semen, and blood downwards. The equal-dwelling wind digests food and drink equally in the navel and guides the essence to the heart. The upward-going wind chews and tastes the food that has been eaten together with the tongue, and gathers the lower wind upwards and the outer wind inwards, and is the cause of speech. The pervasive wind performs the actions of moving the body and going and coming. That is the function of the root wind. The five branch winds, mixed with the consciousness of the senses, sequentially produce the actions of the eyes seeing forms, the ears hearing sounds, and so on. As it says in the "Five Successions": "The winds, with subtle forms, having mixed with consciousness and limbs, having arisen from the path of the senses, then focus on the objects." Therefore, wind.

Detailed classifications should be understood from the larger treatises. The second point is: what was said before are the common ways of acting, but yogis have uncommon ways of acting for liberation, namely, by vajra recitation of the root and branch winds, causing the wind to enter the central channel, performing the three stages of abiding, stopping, and dissolving, from which the three emptinesses and the meaning of the example of luminosity are drawn. Relying on it, the two illusory bodies, pure and impure, can be accomplished, and therefore supreme accomplishments can also be obtained. As the "Five Stages" says: "That is endowed with wind and branches, the three consciousnesses also arise again, arising in the body of the yogi, it is said to be the illusory body." And the "Clear Lamp Treatise" also says: "By vajra recitation of the wind, it can be guided, and the subtle wind can generate the illusory body, therefore it can accomplish supreme accomplishments." Because it is said so. The third point is: from the Sutra perspective, it is also said that wind can generate all the container world. From the Tantra perspective, as before, wind can also generate sentient beings. However, merely relying on wind cannot do that, because it also needs the karma and afflictions of sentient beings as companions, as said before. In general, any container world is not accomplished by karma and afflictions, because it is said that relying on the aspiration and vows of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, special pure lands can be accomplished. In the dissolving stages of wind, when sentient beings die, the consciousness of mind mixes with wind, and the "I" that is the unity of wind and mind arises and dies. Merely wind and mind cannot obtain the name of sentient beings and death, because wind and mind each cannot become a person. Because the extremely subtle wind and mind are the basis of imputation of a person, but not the object of imputation, the person, because the person is merely the "I" imputed on the wind and mind. As the "Five Stages Clear Lamp Treatise" says: "Apart from wind and mind, there is no person who wanders in samsara." This explains that although the object of imputation as a person is not wind and mind, they consider the basis of imputation to be the innate body of sentient beings.
