The power of other senses will also cease. In the Compendium it says: For example, if the sense of life ceases, then all the other senses that exist will cease. Therefore, the fourth is how the bardo is formed. According to the views of Panchen Sonam Drakpa and others, the bardo is formed as soon as consciousness leaves the body. However, Khedrup Norzang Gyatso and others believe that the bardo is initially formed in the heart. Panchen Rinpoche and others believe that the illusory body has both outer and inner manifestations, so the bardo is similar to that. The nature of the bardo is: a body made of wind without flesh and blood, complete with all senses, feeding on smells, and having the shape of the body of the being to be born. Regarding size, the bardo of humans in Jambudvipa is like a five or six-year-old child. The bardo of other continents is known to be larger than that. The bardo of hell is like a tree stump burned by fire. The bardo of pretas is like water. The bardo of animals is like smoke. The bardo of desire realm gods and humans is like gold. The bardo of the form realm is described as white. If one is born in the formless realm, there is no bardo, because only the aggregates of the four names are formed at the time of death there. The bardo of gods and the bardo of humans can see each other. The bardo of different kinds cannot see each other. However, some believe that the upper bardo can see the lower bardo. Regarding the statement that bardo beings have all senses, some examine and say that some newly born bardos and others do not have complete senses. Moreover, it is necessary to examine how the bardo of insects exists. The difference between the state of things and the appearance must also be distinguished. The lifespan is seven days each. If the cause of birth is not found, one will be born in the bardo itself. This can only exist for up to seven weeks, after which it is impossible to exist, and one must take birth in any of the four modes of birth. If the cause of birth is found, one will go to the place of birth. If one is destined to be born as a dog, if the conditions are not met, one may also be born as a bear. In the Abhidharmakosha it says: The non-returning one is a Gandharva. This means that if one is born in the bardo of the gods, one will not become a human again. But in the Compendium it says: If so, it will regress. This means that the bardo can change.

As explained, it follows the later explanation of one's own tradition. This is because it is also explained in the same way in the "Lamp of the Five Stages of Illumination." Fifth, the manner of taking rebirth: If one is born from a womb, the intermediate state being sees sentient beings of the same kind as oneself and desires to engage in intercourse, thus going to the place of birth. Moreover, one is mistaken about the semen and blood of the parents, and sees the parents engaging in intercourse as if it were an illusion. One becomes attached to this. If one is to be born as a female, one desires to be separated from women and is attached to men, desiring to engage in intercourse. If one is to be born as a male, it is the opposite: one desires to be separated from men and is attached to women, desiring to engage in intercourse. At that time, the closer one gets, the less one sees the father and mother themselves, and one only sees their male or female sexual organs. Then, due to being angry at this and giving rise to displeasure, the intermediate state being dies and transmigrates, thus taking rebirth in the womb. As it is said in the Treasury [Abhidharmakosha]: "The mind is reversed and confused, one goes to the place of intercourse." It is said. When the intermediate state ceases, one unites in the center of the mixed semen and blood of the parents. At that time, the aggregate of name and form is first formed, and then the sense bases and so on are gradually formed. The manner of this is explained in detail in the "Gahavo Entering the Womb Sutra," and I have already written about it elsewhere, so I will not explain it here. The manner in which the winds arise will be explained below. The order of birth for womb-born beings is roughly similar to that of egg-born and heat-born beings. Spontaneous birth is the simultaneous birth of the five faculties. As it is said in the Auto-commentary of the Treasury [Abhidharmakosha]: "All spontaneously born beings are born and die with all their faculties complete." Because it is said so. Furthermore, if one is born as a god in the desire or form realm, or as a hell being, a hungry ghost, or an animal, it is also because one is angry at the place of birth that is similar to oneself, and the intermediate state ceases, thus going to the state of birth. If one is born in a warm and moist place, it is due to attachment to odors; if one is born spontaneously, it is due to attachment to places; if one is born in a hot hell, it is due to attachment to warmth; if one is born in a cold hell, it is due to attachment to coolness, and one goes to that place of birth. It is also said that when the intermediate state enters the womb, it enters through any of the three doors. First, one enters through the father's mouth, fontanel, or mother's lotus, and then enters the center of the semen and blood. Because entering through the mouth is the [teaching of the] Vajra Garland Tantra and the [Vinaya] Compendium.
