If it is reversed, by reversing it, karma and craving, as well as acceptance and birth, etc., can be eliminated, thereby attaining liberation. As it says in the Root Wisdom: Karma and afflictions arise from conceptualization, those elaborations arise from elaboration, emptiness can cease them. It also says: Liberation is attained from the exhaustion of karma and afflictions. Therefore. Second, the distinctions of vipassanā have three types of meditation: fourfold, threefold, and sixfold. The first four are: distinguishing, extremely distinguishing, thoroughly examining, and thoroughly scrutinizing. The first of these is focusing on suchness, and the second is focusing on all suchness. Each of these is divided into examination and scrutiny. The three types are: arising from characteristics, arising from thorough searching, and arising from individual attention. The six types are: thoroughly searching for meaning, objects, characteristics, directions, times, and reasons. If we only mention a few examples, the first is searching for "the meaning of this word is this." The second is "this is internal, and this is an external object." The third is "this is its own characteristic, and this is a common characteristic." The fourth is "this is the side of good, and this is the side of evil." The fifth is "in the past, future, and present, it happened like this, it will happen, and it exists like this." The sixth is the four types of reasoning, namely, the reasoning of dependence is knowing that all results depend on causes and conditions; the reasoning of function is knowing that fire burns, water moistens, etc.; the reasoning of proof by reason is establishing without contradicting valid cognition with correct reasons; the reasoning of the nature of phenomena is remembering the commonly known nature of phenomena in the world, such as fire being hot, water being wet, earth being hard, and wind moving, as well as the inconceivable nature of phenomena. Third, there are two ways to practice vipassanā: refuting other views and establishing one's own view. If the first one is explained in detail, there are four types, but since it is too much, it is summarized. The first is: Some people say that even if one has not attained the view of selflessness, if one holds the mind without any conceptualization, one can meditate on the meaning of reality, because reality is emptiness, which is free from the grasping of "this is, this is not," so it can be in accordance with it. This is not

Therefore, your school is that even if you have not found the view, you want to practice the view. Because conjecturing without finding the view will not become practicing the view. If merely not thinking about anything could become practicing the view, then all the ignorant who faint and sleep soundly should want to practice emptiness, how could that be reasonable? According to you, what is the use of the Buddhas extensively explaining the methods of seeking the meaning of emptiness? Because you think that there is no need to understand the meaning of emptiness, and like a fool, gathering the mind inward and not thinking about anything is the method of practicing emptiness. In short, your school is no different from the school of Heshang, so it is unreasonable. Aryadeva said: If one sees the selflessness of objects, then the seeds of existence will be cut off. As it is said in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: If this object is not refuted, then it cannot be abandoned. As it is said, it is necessary to refute the object of attachment of self-grasping after realizing the meaning of selflessness, and merely placing the meaning of selflessness uncertainly in the mind cannot completely eliminate self-grasping. The second saying is: Some say that even if they don't think so, once they find the view of selflessness, all the non-conceptual abiding that person does is considered practicing emptiness. This is also unreasonable, because in that case, his practice of impermanence and practice of bodhicitta, etc., would also become practicing emptiness. The third school does not think like the first two, but says that after making an observation with the wisdom that understands emptiness, all the non-conceptual abiding that is done is practicing emptiness. This is also a bit unreasonable, because it is difficult to say that the non-conceptual state of falling asleep after observing the view before going to sleep is practicing emptiness, and even if the observation has been done beforehand, if mindfulness is forgotten during practice, it will not become practicing the meaning of emptiness. The fourth school does not think like the first three, but says that after gaining certainty in emptiness, focusing the mind on that meaning and abiding without observation is truly and infallibly practicing. This is slightly better, but it seems that they only want to practice abiding on the view, which is unreasonable, because that method may achieve shamatha.
