Then, is that what death is? No, it is the increase of habit. O great king, worldly people see, and parents and others dream of the deceased in dreams, and assume that it is the deceased. The deceased enjoys food and drink, rides a mount, wears clothes, and wears ornaments. They say this, but in reality, the deceased cannot enjoy food and drink, has no mount, does not wear clothes, and does not wear ornaments. These appearances are because a গন্ধর্ব (Tibetan: དྲི་ཟ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गन्धर्व, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: gandharva, literal Chinese meaning: scent-seeker) appears in the mind of the dying person, or non-humans ทำให้ (Tibetan: མི་མ་ཡིན་པ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अमानुष, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: amānuṣa, literal Chinese meaning: non-human) appear and do these things. O great king, when these beings die from here, do you hear worldly people say that they will talk to parents, siblings, or children, etc., say what words, look like what, and after death, they will talk to parents, siblings, or children, etc., as they did before they died, show their form, and let people see? O great king, is this true? The Buddha replied: O great king, speaking is because there is a body, and it depends on the mouth and tongue to speak. The body of the deceased is left here, how can the formless consciousness speak? If it is said that the deceased still has a body, then that is already rebirth. Since it is already rebirth, parents are needed, but there are no parents in the world of the dead. O great king, those who cling to the signs and marks of death say that it is because there is a kind of গন্ধর্ব (Tibetan: དྲི་ཟ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गन्धर्व, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: gandharva, literal Chinese meaning: scent-seeker) called pervader. There is also a kind of গন্ধর্ব (Tibetan: དྲི་ཟ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गन्धर्व, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: gandharva, literal Chinese meaning: scent-seeker) called বিচনা (Tibetan: བི་ཙ་ན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: विचन, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: vicana, literal Chinese meaning: widespread), which pervades the minds of all the dying. There are also yakshas who want to speak, and भूता (Tibetan: འབྱུང་པོ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: भूत, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: bhūta, literal Chinese meaning: भूत) वा राहीनत (Tibetan: ཝ་ར་ཧིན་ཏ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वाराहीनत, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: vārāhīnata, literal Chinese meaning: Varahinata) who want to be completely attached. These non-humans ทำให้ (Tibetan: མི་མ་ཡིན་པ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: अमानुष, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: amānuṣa, literal Chinese meaning: non-human) use these to deceive the world, making them say what the deceased said before, imitating the deceased's attire, in order to deceive the world. The Buddha said many such things, in order to purify this obstacle, which harms both this life and the next. This sutra about the process of death was asked by King Suddhodana, the Buddha's father, to the Buddha. At that time, the king's most beloved minister, named Shakya Joyful Birth, died, and his relatives used jewels and food and clothing.

The king, having seen people gathering various items, joyfully making offerings, and offering prayers and aspirations, inquired of the Buddha: "In this way, when food, clothing, and other things are dedicated to the deceased, do the deceased actually enjoy them or not?" People often say that even a year after death, the image of the deceased appears in dreams or is even seen in reality. Are these statements true or false? The Buddha answered these questions with the previously cited sutras. The above is just one aspect of the history of the deceased in this treatise. Moreover, in response to the king's questions, the Buddha also explained eight examples of the existence of future lives. Furthermore, in the "Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son," in response to the father king's questions, the Buddha explained the cycle of birth and death and how karmic results arise, using various examples and meanings. Although the methods of taking rebirth after death are explained in various sutras and tantras, they are particularly elaborated in the "Sutra Requested by Bhadrakara" through many examples and reasonings, which are also regarded as authoritative by the noble father and son. Therefore, in order to fully understand the Madhyamaka view of future lives and karmic results from a rational perspective, it is necessary to understand it in this way. If subduing obstacles is achieved, Sādhuputra has explained the fierce fire offering, but that is difficult to accomplish, so it is necessary to destroy obstacles. For this, one should instantly transform oneself into Hūṃ, and recite the invocation mantra, Oṃ Vajra Mahākrodha Rāja, etc. The meaning is: "The great Vajra Wrathful King and his retinue, invited by the Vajra vow, Hūṃ." These invocations and praises of the wrathful deities are found in many Indian and Tibetan texts, and will be explained here in brief. The light of the bodies of these wrathful deities is the essence of wisdom, burning like the fire at the end of an eon. Its light burns away all ignorance and desire, which are like darkness. Although it says here "like the fire at the end of an eon," it actually refers to the great fire at the time of the destruction of an eon. It destroys all terrors of Yama, such as hatred or similar things. The lower body wears a tiger skin skirt, symbolizing a great hero, and suppresses all obstacles, evil spirits, and the power of rakshasas.
