It is permissible to invoke the earth deity and bathe. The nature of generosity, such as water, and the perfections of generosity, etc., are established on the knowledge of the mind stream. However, the water in the vase, blessed by the deities and mantras, must be regarded as the essence of the six perfections, which has the power to destroy their opposing factors. The phrase "having bathed with the water of the six rivers" refers to the water that has the nature of the six perfections, which is called the six rivers. By bathing with it, the six imprints are purified, and the six negative imprints, from miserliness to distorted wisdom, which are the opposing factors of the six perfections, are purified, and it is said that one should contemplate the completion of the six perfections in one's mind stream. Although it is explained in this way, if we apply the meaning of "To the one who has no faults, who has performed the bath well, I prostrate and pay homage" to the Buddha, it seems a bit difficult to relate. However, it should be done in this way: By the bath of the six perfections of definitive meaning, having purified their opposing factors and become enlightened, to the one who has no faults and has perfectly performed the bath, I prostrate and pay homage. Similarly, by bathing with the six perfumes blessed by the six perfections, one purifies the six types of impurities to be purified. Possessing the vast qualities of the six perfections, you who have perfectly performed the bath, you have no faults. And, through the gateway of purifying the six types of impurities that are the opposing factors of the six perfections, I bathe with faith for the purpose of offering to all the Buddhas who possess all qualities. These verses are easy to understand and good to recite when bathing a statue of the Three Jewels. However, it seems uncomfortable when bathing someone who has passed away. However, since it appears in the text of this ritual and in other places as well, it is not unreasonable, but some understanding is necessary. Therefore, when bathing a sentient being, bathing the Buddha is not related. The meaning is that the Buddhas are praised for practicing the six perfections, purifying their opposing factors, and becoming enlightened. Likewise, by bathing you with water blessed by the six perfections, obscurations are purified and you will attain enlightenment. I think it should be understood in this way. Translating "bathing the deceased with faith" seems like bathing the deceased with faith in the Buddha, which is a bit uncomfortable.

It should be understood as through faith in the Buddha. Faith in the deceased is inappropriate. If bathing the Buddha is done through faith in the Buddha, how can bathing the deceased be considered bathing the Buddha? Because of my own limited intelligence, I have such doubts about this. In all other respects, there is no doubt about this meaning. No matter what the meaning is, even if there is any problem, it is just raising a question. Finally, recite the root mantra and perform the bathing, and then say auspicious words. Then, the meaning of "Attachment, hatred, and ignorance, these three are the three poisons of the world" is: There are two types of poison, external and internal. External poisons include the roots of gladiolus and daphne, as well as non-living poisons such as black henbane and arsenic, and there are also many living poisons such as dragons and scorpions. Internal poisons are like the three poisons of affliction, and because they are similar to poison, they are called by the name of poison. That is, the internal poison in the continuum of ordinary beings in the world will take away the life of ascending to heaven and liberation, while external poison will take away the life of this life. For the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, there are no such internal poisons, so by the truth of the Buddha, may you destroy all internal and external poisons and attain Buddhahood. Similarly, this should also be applied to the Dharma and the Sangha, reciting the root mantra and performing the bathing. Then, the meaning of "Earth is not the mother of poison, earth is also the father of poison" is that the four elements, which have two aspects, internal and external, are the basis on which internal and external poisons depend and arise, so they are like their parents. The four elements, externally, are the well-known four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, and internally, there are also four elements in the body of a person, namely, flesh and bones are earth, blood and lymph are water, temperature is fire, and breath and the wind inside the body are the wind element. The four elements are the sense base of touch, so although they are invisible to the eye, they are said to be seen because their colors can be seen. Although the consciousness of the eye can grasp the color of the elements, that is not the object of the elements' grasp, for example, although the eye can see the color of fire, that
