When consciousness enters and becomes an embryo, the four aggregates of name, which are caused by it, will be formed. Here, the four names refer to the four non-form aggregates such as feeling. Thus, when the four names and the form aggregates such as softness and warmth are formed, the six sense bases, such as the eyes and ears, will arise from the cause of name and form. Then, relying on the six sense bases, contact will truly arise. What is contact? Based on the self-cause eye and the object-cause form, and the immediately preceding cause of mindfulness and attention, only eye consciousness will arise. Thus, relying on the immediately preceding cause represented by mindfulness, and the name of the four aggregates such as feeling, and the form of the first two causes, eye consciousness will arise, and the combination of the eye, form, and consciousness is the way contact arises or its definition. The other five, such as the ears, should also be understood in this way. When the three are combined, the object is distinguished as pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. Then, from contact, in accordance with the distinction of pleasant, unpleasant, etc., the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity will universally arise. Relying on the cause of contact that arises from the combination of the eye, the other five feelings should also be understood in this way. Thus, what is thrown is name and form, the six sense bases, contact, feeling, and the consciousness of the time of fruition. What throws it is action based on ignorance. How is it thrown? It is in the way that consciousness is perfumed with the habitual tendencies of karma. Secondly, the cause of feeling is craving. When craving arises, there will be grasping. The four aspects will become grasping. If there is grasping, then the existence of the grasper will universally arise. If there is no grasping, there will be liberation, and existence will not arise. This existence is also the five aggregates. From existence, birth will arise. Old age and death, and sorrow, and lamentation with wailing, and suffering, displeasure, and turmoil, all of these will arise from birth. Thus, this sole aggregate of suffering will arise. Thus it is said. Then, from the cause of feeling, craving will arise. One who has craving will crave for the sake of feeling.

Desire is for the sake of not being separated from happiness, for the desire to be separated from suffering, and for not losing equanimity. When one becomes attached in this way, the four aspects of clinging, such as desire, views, and adherence to precepts, are taken as self. If these four clingings are present, then the cause of clinging for that person will cause existence to arise continuously in samsara. If, by the power of wisdom that realizes selflessness, one does not take craving for feeling as one's own, and thus manifests wisdom and there is no clinging, then that person will be liberated and there will be no more rebirth. It should be understood that desire is also the nature of the five aggregates, which is named after the result of the cause. The karma of existence, in which the power of karma has become powerful, will cause future births to occur. Then, old age, in which the aggregates mature, and death, in which they perish, and from that, mental anguish and verbal lamentations, and the suffering of harm to the five physical faculties, and mental discomfort and physical and mental disturbances, all arise from birth. In this way, the aggregate of suffering will not be mixed with happiness, but only pure suffering will arise. What is accomplished in that? It is birth and aging. By what? By clinging with the condition of desire. How? By the way in which the karma of action is imbued with the karmic imprints on consciousness, which have become powerful. The second is: The root of samsara is action, therefore the wise do not act, therefore the foolish act, because they do not see the wise. If ignorance ceases, then all actions will not arise. Ignorance ceases because it is cultivated with wisdom. When that and that cease, that and that will not appear. The pure aggregate of suffering, that should be truly stopped in that way. Thus it is said. Thus, in samsara, the root of consciousness connecting the continuum, etc., that is, the main factor of the cause, is action. Therefore, the wise ones, the noble ones, because they have realized the meaning of suchness, do not create these actions, and therefore do not revolve in samsara. But the foolish who have not seen suchness revolve in samsara, becoming the creators of action.
