You, with loving-kindness, see yourself and cherishing other beings as equal without difference, and through familiarizing the mind of enlightenment in the continuum from the very beginning, you regard all other beings as yourself, cherishing them as yourself. Attachment to one's own happiness is an obstacle to the right path, and the mind that cherishes other beings is the treasure and source of all virtues, therefore you previously practiced the method of exchanging self and others, that is, giving your own happiness to sentient beings and taking all the suffering of sentient beings upon yourself, abandoning the self-cherishing that takes oneself as primary, and through repeatedly familiarizing the mind of cherishing sentient beings, you regard all beings as yourself, cherishing them as yourself. Now, if someone asks, the mind of cherishing oneself is said to be an obstacle to the right path, and it is also said that self and others must be regarded as equal, are these two not contradictory? There is no fault, because abandoning others and only cherishing oneself is a great fault, but cherishing others as oneself does not become a fault, if it were not so, it would contradict the statement of "regarding as equal." However, because many words have been said about cherishing others and abandoning oneself, it is clear that one must abandon the self-cherishing that takes oneself as primary, and cherish other beings as primary, if there is no desire for one's own happiness at all, it would lead to not seeking enlightenment for oneself, therefore one will not be able to attain the Dharmakaya for one's own benefit. The above are from the Bodhicharyavatara: Whoever wishes to quickly protect themselves and others, should practice the secret of exchanging self and others. And: What need is there to say more? Observe the childish who only do things for their own benefit, the Able One only does things for the benefit of others, what is the difference between these two? And so on. The second is, as mentioned above, the Bhagavan, who has perfected the strength of the body not just once but many times with the mother of compassion in the form of wanting to save sentient beings from suffering, is the perfection of excellent qualities.

Even though the qualities of abandonment and realization have been perfected, how could one be robbed by the peace and bliss of abiding in the uncontaminated realm of reality? One will not be robbed. Therefore, just as a mother raises her child and enables it to obtain a body, the venerable one, with great compassion like a mother, repeatedly raises (beings) in the various stages of the path of learning and demonstrates enlightenment. Not being robbed by peace does not mean not abiding in the realm of peace, but rather it means not being captivated by the bliss of peace and thus abandoning others (beings). The word "also" indicates that even though one obtains the opportunity to enter (samsara) in a way that does not return to the realm of peace, one will not be captivated by it, which is actually expressed through the meaning. The second is the aspiration prayer, from "Good Wings Empowerment" to "Become Beautiful as It Is" is what is being taught. The meaning is: For example, Good Wings Empowerment, that is, the king of birds entering the sky of soaring gods, does not always remain in that realm of sky, nor does it fall to the ground without control like one who has no power. Although showing the manner of taking birth in the cycle of existence for the benefit of sentient beings, the mind does not fall into the path of existence, and although entering into equanimity in the realm of peace, one does not abide at the end of peace. By the merit of praising the mind of you, the venerable one, may I, the praiser, never be separated in mind from the wisdom and love of Manjushri. May I quickly and easily achieve in my mind the view of realizing selflessness, which robs the opportunity to engage in clinging to extremes, that is, making things disappear, which clings to phenomena of existence and non-existence as true, and the great compassion of seeing all beings as beloved children. If so, may all embodied sentient beings be able to be led to the supreme vehicle, that is, the path of the Great Vehicle. May I not forget the words and meanings of all the sacred teachings of scripture and realization that have been truly grasped, and may I quickly generate in my being the root of mindfulness—the dharani with samadhi and wisdom, and the supreme eloquence to answer all questions asked by others, so that I may be able to offer a feast of well-spoken sacred Dharma to those who are impoverished by the Dharma. Thus it is. The various divisions of regions, countries, and races
