Having studied the immaculate treatises, those who are first in karma are taught with great words. From this very moment until the Buddha's land, the profound instructions that lead well, with inner understanding, all the Buddha's words and commentaries are said to be wise when they appear as the essence of the instructions. That is to say, as mentioned above, just as the great chariot's treatises opened the chariot's tradition, if one studies well and understands it oneself, then at first, with the great words of karma, fruit, and generosity, etc., the trainees who are first in karma, from the way of relying on a spiritual friend from this very moment, up to quiescence and superior seeing, as the stages of the path appear, the profound instructions that lead well to the Buddha's land, gaining certainty of inner understanding. By the power of that, all the Buddha's words and the great treatises that explain their meaning appear as the essence of the instructions, and that is called the supreme of the wise. This is similar to the meaning in the Condensed Meaning, "All the scriptures appear as instructions." In general, all the Buddha's words are the supreme of the oral instructions because they show the trainees how to attain higher realms and definite goodness, and ultimately how to attain Buddhahood. Therefore, the great treatises of inner knowledge that explain their meaning are also the supreme of the oral instructions. However, since we small-minded ones cannot understand the meaning of the Buddha's words and great commentaries well on our own, we cannot understand them as the supreme of the oral instructions, but we will come to know them by relying on the oral instructions of the lama, such as the Stages of the Path. If we divide the ways of knowing separately, there are many, but if we condense the meaning, then from those treatises of the Buddha's words and commentaries, all the ways of taking refuge in the lama and the Three Jewels are included in taking refuge; all the methods of escaping from the lower realms that are taught are included in the Dharma cycles that teach the path that is actually the Lesser Person or is common to it; similarly, all the methods of liberation from samsara that are taught are included in the Dharma cycles that are actually the Intermediate Person or belong to any of its categories; all the Dharma that is taught for the sake of attaining Buddhahood is included in the Dharma cycles of the Great Person. If one knows this way, then all the special Buddha's words and treatises can also gradually

Therefore, understanding the methods or key instructions that lead to the path of the Buddha, there is nothing to be discarded from these scriptures, but rather understanding everything as instructions spoken for the benefit of those to be tamed. In short, no matter which Buddhist scripture shows that all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, all contaminated phenomena are suffering, all phenomena are empty and without self, and that Nirvana is peaceful, it should also be applied to the meaning of other scriptures. For example, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent, which is the meaning of one scripture, and it should also be thought that it is the meaning of all other scriptures that teach this meaning. If one thinks and practices in this way, the benefits will be great, and all scriptures that teach in this way will be understood as instructions. The third part has three points: it is crucial to understand the scriptures as instructions and then practice their meaning; one should not only focus on the words without practicing the meaning; and the way in which the scriptures appear as instructions is crucial. The first point is: like a parrot reciting scriptures, like a well without water, like a butter lamp in a picture. Why? Because the wise ones composed the scriptures in order to know how to practice. In this way, it is crucial to practice in accordance with one's own mind after all the scriptures have appeared as instructions. The reason is that the wise ones such as the Buddhas composed the scriptures that explain the meaning in order to know how to practice their meaning. The previously mentioned parrot reciting scriptures, the scriptures not appearing as instructions, and the mere emphasis on lecturing, word combinations, and debates without any practice, are like a parrot reciting mani, which is of little significance, like a well without water that cannot quench thirst, and like a butter lamp in a picture that cannot dispel darkness. However, if one studies and contemplates the theory of terminology while being sustained by renunciation and bodhicitta, there will be a way to become the cause of liberation and omniscience, and I have already said that listening should be encouraged. The second point is: Alas! The accomplishment of the two benefits of beings does not depend on pure scriptures and treatises. Even if one relies on them, one only focuses on the words. If one spends one's time on that, what could be more deceived than that! Alas! Although this word expresses amazement, judging from the following sentence, it means lament.
