Just as going to a cold place, when the moonlight of spring shines on the bodies of some people suffering from cold diseases, they should feel cool, but due to the influence of karma, they feel their bodies burning. Applying this analogy to the actual situation, after studying the tenets, one should develop faith in karma and its effects, but instead, a wrong view of disbelief arises. One should benefit oneself through the Dharma, but wrong views destroy the roots of virtue in one's mind, which is like burning one's own mind, and should be corresponded to in order. This phenomenon is likely to occur in many arrogant and ignorant people who claim to be philosophers today. Master Tsongkhapa admonishes with compassion, and one should think deeply about this. Therefore, although teachers and Master Tsongkhapa and others praise listening, they only follow the words of those who do not understand the meaning of the scriptures well, or with the arrogance of knowing only a little, they demean others with harsh words and despise others, which is the cause of their own decline. One should consider this and see how Master Khedrup Je severely criticized those who remove the dross in the Dharma. The fifth point is: Therefore, be intelligent and virtuous with sharp wisdom, and until you are as sharp as the tip of a kusha grass, do not be easily satisfied, and rely on wise and virtuous friends to study the rational tenets well. That is to say, even if one enters the study of tenets, wrong views will arise due to not studying well. Therefore, since there is such a situation that is harmful to oneself, when studying, wisdom should be sharp and meticulous, and until it is as sharp as the tip of a kusha grass, one should not be easily satisfied, and should rely on wise and virtuous friends to study these rational tenets well. Scholars who study in this way are also rare, but one should study well according to one's own wisdom and ability, and even if one does not understand, one should not have wrong views. This is very clear. Some people only understand a little bit, and with the arrogance of being able to speak well, they think that the scope of knowledge is only this much. Thinking of this, it is really sighing. Therefore, the only Buddha is the one who can see all knowable dharmas as they are, and the only one who can answer all questions is the Buddha. Even the noble disciples can only understand a part of the Dharma.

If one does not directly see all the forms and detailed distinctions of everything, how can I, with my inferior intellect, feel arrogant and complacent, thinking that I know the distinctions of knowable things, which are like a firefly, and that I know only a fraction of what is like the sky? Therefore, it is very important to prevent the arrogance of being a know-it-all. The second part has three points: how to attain the intention of the Victorious Ones by studying well in this way; how all the scriptures appear as instructions based on that; and conversely, how it is shown to be of little significance if one deviates from that. The first point is: Thus, with the eye of intelligence opened, The Victorious Ones' profound meaning of the supreme vehicle, The nature of mere consciousness and the nature of no self-existence, The intention of the two teachings will be attained. This means that, as before, by studying well the two treatises of reasoning and opening the eye of intelligence or increasing intelligence, one will be able to attain a good understanding of the intention of all the scriptures spoken by the Victorious Ones, who opened the Mahayana Dharma without obstruction, such as the system of Vijnanavada, i.e., the Mind-Only school, and the system of no self-existence, the Madhyamaka school, as opened by Nagarjuna. This is similar in direction to the statement in the "Compendium of the Stages of the Path": "Easily attain the intention of the Victorious Ones." In general, understanding the intention of all the scriptures of the Victorious Ones requires relying on the instructions of the scholars and accomplished ones who have been transmitted from the two great chariots. In particular, to understand well the systems of Madhyamaka and Mind-Only, one must rely on the instructions of the father and sons of the two great chariots. That is, one must rely on the instructions of Maitreya and Asanga, and Dignaga and Dharmakirti, father and son, to understand the system of Mind-Only; one must rely on the instructions transmitted from Manjushri to Nagarjuna, father and son, to understand well the system of Madhyamaka, and be able to understand it. If one wants to understand the systems of Madhyamaka and Mind-Only without relying on the instructions transmitted from the two great chariots, it will be like a blind person leading a blind person, going in a dangerous direction. As for how these two systems are, as Je Tsongkhapa himself said in the "Distinction Between Definitive and Interpretive Meanings," even the Buddha could not have said it better. The second point is: Thereafter, the lineage of the chariots of Lord Maitreya, Nagarjuna, and the brothers Asanga, etc.
