Due to the transformation, it is now necessary to acknowledge and accept that, in terms of conventional truth, dependent arising, which is empty of inherent existence, like an illusion or an image, is also accepted by our own school. Even if this is acknowledged, it will not become a fault for the time being. Moreover, it cannot be denied, so it must be acknowledged. This is because, in general, one should not be partial to either appearance or emptiness. And for the appearances perceived by ordinary beings, one should pay particular attention, as the venerable one said. Some people think that the establishment of conventional truths such as cause and effect can be acknowledged for others, but not for one's own school, which is not acceptable. This is because there is no certainty in acknowledging something for others. Because one must examine the thoughts of the external debater, observe the way he acknowledges things, and then refute his inverted views. Therefore, for him, based on the tenets of the materialist school, there is no such thing as saying, "I acknowledge this, I do not acknowledge that" in front of him for the time being. For example, when he acknowledges that sound is permanent, then we also acknowledge that a pot is permanent. In this way, taking the opposite of what he desires, that is, sound is impermanent as our own position, and temporarily accepting that a pot is permanent, and engaging in equal debates and so on. In the end, one will see something that harms his view. And in our own school, making the vow that sound is impermanent is the same as the pot being impermanent. This shows that because of one's own needs, one acknowledges, so the two acknowledgments are the same or equal. One cannot say that the acknowledgment of one's own school is only for others to acknowledge, and that I have not acknowledged it. Whether it is or is not, until one sees something that causes harm to what both sides have acknowledged, one should act according to one's own wishes, as the venerable one said. As mentioned above, after the experience of analytical meditation on the selflessness of persons arises, then diligently strive with effort on the various aspects of the object of the selflessness of phenomena, and practice diligently. The way this school establishes the two selflessnesses is as stated in the 'Entering the Middle Way': 'This selflessness is for the sake of liberating beings, it is taught as two types by dividing phenomena and persons.' As it is said, on the basis of the subject, that is, on the person, negating the inherent existence that should be negated is the selflessness of persons. On the aggregates and so on, negating the inherent existence is the selflessness of phenomena, it is merely established in this way. There is no subtle or coarse between the two selflessnesses.

There is no difference. However, in the "Smaller Stages of the Path," it is said that it is easier to understand for people with special aptitudes. The main reasoning for establishing the selflessness of phenomena is the reasoning of dependent origination. As it is said in the "Entering the Middle Way": "Therefore, this reasoning of dependent origination cuts off all nets of evil views." As it is said, on top of the two extremes of cause and effect, it can prevent the two extremes of permanence and annihilation. In the "Praise" it is also said: "That itself is for the wise, the door that cuts off all nets." What is said is also referring to the reasoning of dependent origination. Nagarjuna and Chandrakirti, in the "Root Verses" and "Entering the Middle Way," explain the reasoning of the four extremes of arising and ceasing, which also leads to the reasoning of dependent origination. The details can be learned elsewhere, and some have already been mentioned above. From the "Root Tantra of the Guhyasamaja" and others, the view of emptiness is taught, so there is a way to meditate on the view in the completion stage of mantra. However, these do not have the way to bring out the experience of the view as explained in the treatises of the characteristic school. Therefore, if one only practices mantra, although there is an opportunity to understand the view, it will never become a special path of view. When a supreme experience arises that possesses the three characteristics of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality, at that time the proliferation of sound and conceptuality will not arise at all, or even if it arises, it is because the power of calm abiding is very strong, causing the moving conceptual thoughts to be unable to connect from one to another, thus causing the object of proliferation to disappear, or one might think that all appearances of objects appear like illusions. However, at that time, these sounds and conceptual thoughts, due to the power of calm abiding being very strong, are temporarily blocked, and a feeling of the disappearance of the object seems to occur. Because the nature of meditative equipoise does not go beyond the dualistic conceptualization, the proliferation of sound and conceptualization can never be completely destroyed. The temporary cessation of coarse sound and conceptual proliferation, and the appearance of phenomena as illusions, can also occur even if one attains the four dhyanas. After attaining them, when all appearances of the five objects, such as form, are placed equally, appearances like mist will also occur. Not only will this occur when attaining dhyana, but also after attaining the formless absorptions, during meditative equipoise, the appearances of forms will cease, and this will also occur. The occurrence of such a thing is not the power of insight, but the power of calm abiding.
