Now, without finding the meaning and without the mind being distracted, abide by relying on mindfulness. When the mind wanders, again, as before, examine and search slightly with reason, and if you do not find it, abide in that state. How should this examination be done moderately? If you examine too much, you will become too distracted, and you will not be able to gain experience in vipassana. So, how do you search with the seven aspects? In detail, I have already explained it in the commentary on the Madhyamakavatara and in the classification of views, so I will only mention it briefly here. That is, as it says in the Entering [the Middle Way]: The chariot is not different or the same as its parts, nor is it non-different or not non-different, nor is it possessed of them, nor are the parts in it, nor is it in the parts, nor is it merely an aggregate, nor is it a shape. As it is said. Just as you cannot find it when you search with reason in the seven aspects of the chariot—whether it is one or different from its own parts, whether it has or depends on each other, whether it is an aggregate or a shape. I am also not the "one" that is not different from my own aggregates, the "different" that is not related, and I am not possessed of the aggregates in terms of essence, and I do not depend on the aggregates in terms of essence, and the aggregates do not depend on me in terms of essence, nor is it the aggregate and shape of the aggregates, and you cannot find me when you search in the seven aspects. In this way, just as you cannot find the meaning of imputation on the parts of the chariot when you search for the meaning of imputation in the seven aspects, I am also imputed based on my own aggregates, and when you cannot find it when you search in those seven aspects other than imputation, you will realize that I have no self-nature. As it says in the Differentiating the Provisional and the Definitive: The chariot is one and different from its parts, etc. Furthermore, this is also imputed based on the aggregates, so not finding a person in those seven aspects is the meaning of the selflessness of the person. And as it says in the Entering [the Middle Way]: How can you say that something that cannot be found by searching in seven ways exists? Yogis also do not find this existence. When explaining this meaning, Je Norzang Gyatso said: If the chariot has self-nature, it must be searched for and found in the seven aspects, so after determining such a pervasion, when it is later searched for in the seven aspects but not found, it is determined that the chariot has no self-nature. Not finding it after examining it with reason is like not seeing anything, thereby realizing suchness.

It is so. As it is also said in the "Deep View Explanation" and the "Stages of the Path": By analyzing the self and the chariot in the same way as before, using the previously explained sequence, one will be able to quickly investigate the depths of Suchness. Therefore, how should the chariot and the self be established? Without seeking the meaning of the imputation, it is merely established as a name. As it is said in the sutra: Just as relying on the collection of parts, it is called a chariot. Similarly, relying on the aggregates, it is called a conventional sentient being. And in the "Entering the Middle Way": It is not established in the world by the sevenfold analysis, but without discrimination, it is merely imputed from the world, relying on its own parts. It is as it is said. Just as it is said about the chariot and the person, it should also be applied to other things such as parts and wholes, collections and those with collections, limbs and those with limbs, qualities and those with qualities. The time to realize the selflessness of the self by relying on the reasoning of one or many is as stated in Jecung's Great Commentary: If it were established by its own nature, then the self and the aggregates must be established as either one or different, established by their own characteristics. When one sees that both are harmed by reasoning, one becomes certain that the self is not established by its own nature at all. Gaining this certainty is gaining the view of realizing that the object of innate ego-grasping is without inherent existence. As it is said. Regarding this point, Gongru Gyaltsenpa believes that merely realizing that the subject of the thesis is not established as either one or different in terms of true existence is enough to realize emptiness. Khedrup Je believes that this is the reason for establishing emptiness, so one cannot realize emptiness merely by this. Je Norzangpa says: By analyzing with the reasoning of one or many, etc., and when a valid cognition of certainty arises regarding the meaning being analyzed, one realizes that phenomena such as sprouts, which arise from conditions, are not established by their own nature. After gaining the view, when cultivating it, one should try to keep the mind evenly on the non-affirming negation that merely prevents the object to be negated. If the mind's strength weakens, one should again clearly bring forth the appearance of the object to be negated, and think that it is not established in that way, which is the actual way to cultivate the view.
