From... First, having generated the mind of enlightenment and taken vows through rituals, then one also cultivates the mind of enlightenment. Thus, it is said that if one has not entered the Mahayana path, there is a time when one takes the entering vows based on just an ordinary mind of enlightenment that has arisen with a little experience. Therefore, it is understood that most individuals nowadays take the entering vows based on such a mind of enlightenment, and that the mantra vows also arise based on that, which is mentioned only as a way of contemplating, so it should be examined. In the Lamrim and other texts, it is said that whichever of the two, mantra or Paramita vehicle, one enters, one must generate the mind of enlightenment, which is stated from the perspective of the actual path. I think that even if one has not entered the path, one can prove with scripture and reasoning that one can become a lineage holder of the mantra and Paramita vehicle. Otherwise, all present-day secret mantra practitioners would either be included in those who have entered the path, or they would become nothing at all. Well then, if, as previously stated, one is not seized by any of the three, such as renunciation, then it is accepted and agreed that it will not become a cause for liberation and omniscience. Are the paths of Hearers and Solitary Realizers the Buddha's lineage, so they can become Buddhas, and does that not contradict the statement that all sentient beings can attain Buddhahood? It does not contradict, because even though it is only a cause from the perspective of a distant cause, it is not a proximate cause or a special cause, that is, it is not a cause that manifestly turns towards enlightenment, so it will not become their cause. For example, just as one does not call the previous continuum of causes of those that are in the preparation stage of a seed and have not been sown, the seed of that and that. When cultivating renunciation, although it is said that one must abandon craving for the perfections of existence, it is not necessary to abandon just some possessions and striving for food and clothing. Because even Arhats, although they do not have craving for the perfections of existence, it is not contradictory that they strive for food, clothing, etc. Because Arhats also need to rely on dwellings, food, clothing, etc. Because the body needs to be sustained, and it also needs to be protected from heat and cold and shameful situations. Although it is not permissible to strive for the power and wealth of Brahma, Indra, Wheel-turners, and petty kings, it is not that one is not allowed to strive for the divine and human support for accomplishing omniscience. Condensed essence of the Lamrim.

Na ma! For accomplishing the supreme path, the support with complete characteristics, until it is obtained, there will be no determination of the ground. Therefore, one should train in the cause that is without any deficiency. As it is said, it also comes from the Lamrim Chenmo and other texts. Thus, with renunciation and bodhicitta, one first ripens the continuum, and then for the path of liberation, one must seek the view of realizing selflessness. Because this view is the single path traveled by all Buddhas, it is indispensable. As the Samadhiraja Sutra says, "If one individually understands the Dharma of selflessness," and so on. And the Collection Sutra says, "All Buddhas, past and future, wherever they go in the ten directions, all are on this path of the other shore, not another." As it is said. It is like there is no second gate to peace. Thus, Aryadeva said, "There is no second gate to peace." And Je Tsongkhapa said, "Peace without a second is dependent arising." And in the Three Principal Aspects of the Path, it says, "If one does not have the wisdom that understands reality, even if one cultivates renunciation and bodhicitta, one cannot cut the root of existence, therefore one should strive to realize dependent arising." As it is said. Therefore, one should first seek the non-conceptual wisdom that realizes selflessness, or just the common part of shamatha and vipassana. Then, relying on mindfulness and awareness, one should seek a stable shamatha that can be combined with the four postures of walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. Once that is found, then one should cultivate vipassana. Because before one has found a place of rest for the mind, even if one cultivates vipassana, it is only a superficial imitation, and because the mind is too scattered, the actual experience of vipassana does not arise. In general, even if one has only found a place of rest for the mind, if one does not have the power of pure hearing and thinking, and one does not have a definite understanding of the meaning of selflessness, then there is no opportunity to generate the pure vipassana experience of realizing selflessness. Therefore, for the meaning of selflessness, after obtaining a place of rest for the mind, one should rely on it to generate experience from the view. That is to say, although one can generate experience by determining that other objects of appearance, such as forms and sounds, are also without inherent existence and then meditating on them, the most important point for easy realization is to first seek the self of a person with the sevenfold reasoning, and after thoroughly establishing that the self that cannot be found in that way with reason, then observe it.
