The stars Grozhin, Khrumtha, and Karmin Drug, which are the twelve fish stars, are divided into three groups. In the past, when dividing them, winter and spring each had four months. Then, the month of Grozhin is approximately summer. The first day of the month of Khrum is a short summer. Then, the three months including Khrum, which is one day short, are a long summer. These are all done according to the custom before the waning moon. From the sixteenth of October, it is the beginning of winter and the way to determine the beginning of the new year. Fifth, the ritual has two parts: preparation and the main practice. First, regarding committing to the summer retreat, there are about ten or fifteen days, or even less, and wherever the commitment is made, the place should be cleaned and the residence and bedding prepared. To vacate the residence and beds, etc., monks with nine or ten qualities are requested through two acts of solicitation. The ten qualities are having pure Bhikshu vows, etc., see elsewhere for details. Then, the appointed monk prepares the discipline stick and says, 'In this place, do not create disturbances in the Sangha, and do these activities of listening, thinking, and meditating,' etc., stating the rules that are temporarily in effect. Before distributing the discipline stick, he should make a request to the Sangha and distribute the discipline stick properly, etc. Then, when allocating residences and beds, according to the Indian custom, residences, trees, etc., and nests, etc., should be allocated according to seniority. Similarly, beds, cushions, clothes, and other bedding should also be given, but here, due to local customs, this cannot be done, so only show similarities and explain how to use them. Second, the main practice has two parts: general and specific. First, in front of the monk, say: 'Venerable or long-lived one, please listen. I, named so-and-so, commit to stay here for three months of the early summer retreat in this place, including the boundaries, in order to repair the damage and collapse of the residence. I am here for the summer retreat, and my place of summer retreat is here.' Repeat this three times and use appropriate methods. If it is not a summer retreat, state its name and commit to it. As it says, 'In order to repair the damage and collapse of the residence,' the summer

If a building like a monastery is damaged, it can be repaired a little, because "damage" refers to dilapidation and collapse. Secondly, even if the summer retreat ceremony is not completed, if one vows to stay in this place for three summer months, it is said to be considered as having accepted the summer retreat, and in this case, if one goes to other places, one should also perform the blessing. Sixth, regarding vows: The appointed monk should check every half month how the Sangha inside and outside use the residence, etc. If they use it improperly, they should be corrected, and they should strive for virtuous deeds such as reading, hearing, thinking, and abandoning meditation, and not do too many mundane things, not distribute the acquired wealth, and avoid quarrels, etc. During the summer, without the blessing of the summer retreat, one cannot stay outside the boundary even for one day, otherwise the fault of "broken summer retreat" will occur. If there is a need for Dharma-related matters, one can receive a blessing for one to seven days and then leave the boundary. When leaving, one needs to ask a monk for permission, then squat down and say, "Venerable, please listen, I, named so-and-so, vow to stay in this place within the boundary for the first three summer months. Now, I, named so-and-so, for the sake of something, will leave the boundary for seven days and return before then, please bless me." Repeat this three times and handle it properly. If staying outside the boundary for no more than one to six days, then say the number of days that need to be blessed, such as one day or two days, etc. If returning on the same day, bless for one day, if staying for one day, bless for two days, and so on. If blessing for seven days, one cannot leave on the night of the seventh day, and other situations are similar. Even if the blessing is done falsely, it will not be effective. For the sake of particularly Dharma-related matters, if permission is obtained to stay outside the boundary for eight to forty days, it is also permissible. However, if there are only six days for exclusion, then the blessing will not be effective, because the scriptures say that blessing for the last six days is invalid. Some scholars believe that this refers to the last six days not being able to perform the seven-day
