What? That is to abide in emptiness. Because it is said so. Moreover, any dependent arising that is established by the mutual dependence of parts is established by other power, not by self-power, therefore, its meaning is emptiness. As the Four Hundred says: All this is without autonomy, therefore I do not exist. As it is said. The third is the two verses such as "This teaching". Thus, this supreme teaching that speaks of emptiness is your, the Sage's, doctrine. Apart from this, it has not been seen in other non-Buddhist doctrines. Therefore, for that very reason, the name "Teacher" truly applies to you. Just as a fox is named a lion, although non-Buddhists such as Samkhya, Vaisheshika, and Jainas are also called teachers by their respective followers, that is just a false word, a flattering word that does not conform to the facts. The word "also" means that not only you are called a teacher, but others are also called teachers. Therefore, Gautama, you are the teacher, protector, supreme speaker, and supreme protector. Because others are not like that, I prostrate to the teacher who speaks well of dependent arising. The four sentences such as "Emaho" are words of praise for the rare and wonderful. The second part has three: declaring that self-emptiness is the meaning of dependent arising; if this meaning is not understood, then the essence of the teaching cannot be understood; if this meaning is understood, then special faith guided by the measurer will arise in the teacher. The first part has two: detailed explanation and brief praise. The first part has two: declaring that not considering self-emptiness as the meaning of dependent arising is not the intention of the Sage; establishing that considering emptiness as the meaning of dependent arising is the intention of the Sage. In order to avoid cumbersome words, the root verse is not quoted for explanation. The meaning of the first part is: you who benefit others, for the benefit of the beings to be tamed, the essence of the teaching you proclaimed is

That which demonstrates the emptiness of emptiness, because all phenomena are established by their own nature, is precisely that. And the reason for ascertaining that emptiness, the unparalleled means, is precisely this mode of dependent arising. However, the sprout, as a phenomenon, is not truly existent, because it is dependently arisen. To this assertion, if a proponent of realism responds with a contradictory pervasion, saying "there is no pervasion," and if a non-Buddhist, seeing that the sign is not established, responds with a desired answer, how can these understand the meaning of dependent arising, the supreme system of the Teacher? They cannot understand it. The second has three parts: in emptiness of inherent existence, all actions are reasonable, and otherwise not; emptiness of inherent existence is established by the reason of being dependently arisen; through that, the Teacher himself is established as the supreme speaker. The first has three parts: how actions are reasonable in emptiness of inherent existence, how they are not reasonable in the opposite case, and praise of seeing dependent arising. The first is: when will you, the Teacher, establish emptiness of inherent existence in this way? Through that, the Teacher himself is established as the supreme speaker. The first has three parts: because it is established by its own nature, it is empty, and moreover, in that, temporarily going, staying, etc., the ways of accepting and rejecting are established, and all actions are reasonable merely as designations, and are not contradictory, and are considered to be in accordance with the Dharma. Thus, as it is said in the Root Wisdom: Because emptiness is possible, everything is possible. This means that although all phenomena do not have even a particle of inherent existence, not only is it reasonable to have the general characteristics of samsara and nirvana in mere conventionality, but especially the general characteristics of abandonment and acceptance, but it should be known to be extremely reasonable. The second is: if, as mentioned earlier, the opposite of the emptiness of inherent existence of phenomena, if one sees that it is established by its own nature, that is, if one accepts it, then it is not reasonable, because in the emptiness of inherent existence, all actions cannot be established, and for those who are reasonable in temporary causes and effects, etc., it must be assumed that there is no emptiness established by its own nature. It is not permissible to think so, because it
